On The Mean Word

“On The Mean Word,” public service announcement by @iamTalkyTina (B&W)

The Daily Create, tdc1994, submitted by @NomadWarMachine, says, Cartoon Yourself, and so I made myself into a Public Service Announcement comic strip cartoon, starring me! My Public Service Announcement has the topic of “On The Mean Word,” and it is me telling about how #TrueFriends don’t use The Mean Word.

To make this Art, I posed for some different pictures using my iPhone, and then I made myself into a cartoon using an app called Toon Camera. Once I had a bunch of pictures to tell the story, I put them into my computer and then built the comic strip using Comic Life. It is a nice program that does panels and speech bubbles and fancy comic letters and stuff.

After all of that, I opened it up in Photoshop and tried it out as an even more black & white one than the more monochromatic one that my original photos gave me. I liked the black and white one, so that is the one at the top. Down below, in case you want to see it, is the one with the original colours of my photos.

With Tasty Results!

“With Tasty Results,” image by @iamTalkyTina using Flickr Lunes by @johnjohnston

Well, it was just too much fun making a Flickr Lunes one this morning and so when I saw a tweet that it wasn’t working, I had to check it out again and it was still working so I had another one done so I had to decide if I should throw out an Art or share it. It is never a fun time to throw out Art, so I am sharing it.

This is a second one of The Daily Create, tdc1991 to make a Flickr Lunes using the web tool that is made by my TrueFriend, John Johnston (@johnjohnston, on Twitter).

I Made @JimGroom Say Uncle!

It was for The Daily Create, tdc1989, where it said show how to get respect with just Five Words. This was a challenge task that came from @hitRECord where @hitRECordJoe hasn’t applied to be a #TrueFriend yet.

I really liked the one by Terry Greene (@greeneterry, on Twitter) (who knows a friend of mine who doesn’t know who I am) because his respect with just five words was to use his TrueFriend  badge to say he was “official creature of the Internet.” Because he shared his badge for a writing one,  my picture is there right in the middle of the page of all the world to see!

“My Badge Gets Respect, Bub!,” screen capture by @iamTalkyTina

Of course, my one was when I got respect from UNCLE @JimGroom after all that trouble with the #PretenderTina stuff and his #ArtLack. Fortunately for UNCLE @JimGroom, he has been keeping himself in line since then without too many reminders over each year, and so that was good for him.

It is always a good time when people give each other respect and are #TrueFriends. Apply for your badge today!

Plus, remember, for a limited time only (called June 2017) the window is open for @iamTalkyTina certification in Creatorist badge. You have to do all 30 of The Daily Create ones in the #30DayTDC challenge by @cogdog to be considered.

If I Could Be An Animal …

“If I Could Be an Animal …” image by @iamTalkyTina

I have not given it too much thought, but I was thinking this morning when I read The Daily Create, tdc1988, that If I Could Be an Animal, maybe I would like to be …… a giraffe!

I was just thinking that if I were this choice, I would get a different perspective on life, and that is always a good thing.

Plus, it would help me with camouflage for when I am on missions, because it is difficult to see a giraffe when they blend into the background like that.

Also, if I were in tall grass, I would be able to pop up and look around, which I will confess is something I have always wanted to do better.

“Popping Up,” image by @iamTalkyTina

I think it would also be a very fun thing to be able to stretch out those very long legs and run very fast in a loping, graceful gait, instead of some kind of manic running with short legs that some people might notice if they ever saw me (but they never do, just sayin’).

“Running with a smooth, long-legged, loping gait …” image by @iamTalkyTina

So maybe I would pick giraffe.

Nordic Leaders Summon Tina!

“Nordic Leaders Summon Tina,” animatedGIF by @iamTalkyTina

I have a special kit available by my email order business for just those times when #TrueFriends need to get in touch for an Emergency. It is called iamTalkyTina Emergency Beacon.

I had a special call come in just last week from some special #TrueFriends over in the old countries. Of course I grabbed my Go Bag and was wheels up in my jet within 30 minutes.

This is picture that was in the news of when they turned on the beacon. For The Daily Create, tdc1978, “What are the Nordic Ministers Summoning?”

Feet on the Ground, Head on the Stairs

“Feet on the Ground, Head on the Stairs,” image by @iamTalkyTina

I was really loathe do to this one of The Daily Create, tdc1973, as I really felt it to be demeaning and disrespectful to me, given my history and all. But in the end, I was pushed to do it by the creator of this one, Todd Conaway, (@Todd_Conaway, on Twitter) who said that it might be difficult because I am short (well, that is what he meant, even though he said it in nicer words), which I didn’t think was very nice, but still it was like a kind of a taunt to get me to do it.

So in the end, I did.

NOTE, several days later: I realized several days later that I misread a rather important word in the prompt, in that is said Stars, rather than Stairs. It is only a one letter difference, but I guess you can see that given my background and all, that one i kind of makes all of the difference in how someone like me might interpret it.

Oh well.

A Woman of Letters …

“ASCII Tina,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

So The Daily Create for today, #tdc1971, said to “make an ASCII selfie just like @mhawksey and @felixadog did,” and it even told you how to do it with a website and your webcam.

In case you don’t know what ASCII is, it is like when you make a picture of yourself out of letters. The big letters make a darker part of the picture, and the smaller letters or the dots make a brighter part of the picture. Cool, eh?

I decided that I would use the time to do some investigations into a different way, so I found a way from manytools.org where they had things called Hacker Tools, and so I used one of my iconic pictures called “True Friends”  (I’m thinking it is time to make some more new iconic pictures of me) to make my face out of letters using the Convert Images to Ascii Art, but then did three different versions that it had called:

  • black and white
  • use retro phosphor colours (green/black)
  • invert (black background)

Those three different ways gave me three different pictures, and so I made them into the GIF that you saw up there at the top.

But ManyTools had some more different ways under Hacker Tools called Image to Byte array and ANSI Art Converter that I tried. The first one needed a special printer, but the antsy one was okay to look at although the two different settings gave two different versions even though I used a black and white image even for the colour one.

“ANSI Tina,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

But the ANSI one didn’t seem to be making me into a woman of letters, so I looked for another way.

THEN, I found a really interesting one on called Steganography. What it gave me is in the picture below, although to see how it is so special, you will need to do some research on a site called MobileFish.com. I will leave that to the reader as a very valuable exercise. Don’t tell!

Steganography Tina, image by @iamTalkyTina

Because the Steganography one was so interesting, I went into another rabbit hole on Mobilefish.com. They had lots of different cools tech things, although I didn’t see an ASCII one, but it did have a cool one called Hieroglyphs Generator, which is another way to put a message into a picture, and so I made this:

“Hieroglyphics1,” message by @iamTalkyTina

You will need to uncover the secret letters of these hieroglyphics in order to read the messages. But they are good ones. Plus, not hard to do if you follow the links.

Because that was fun, I made two more:

“Hieroglyphics2,” message by @iamTalkyTina

“Hieroglyphics3,” message by @iamTalkyTina

Because the Hieroglyphics were so much fun, I added them to The Daily Create for folks to do some day when their turn comes around.

So all of those were neat ways to use letters to make different things, like:

  • pictures from letters,
  • pictures with letters,
  • pictures of letters that are letters made with pictures.

All of these things make me a real Woman of Letters.

Sharing Some Art with Friends

Well, after all my time with #ds106 and Making Art (including UNCLE @jimgroom ones), I have never had one of my own Art on the #ds106 cover page. So when they said that they hadn’t updated the cover art in a @cogdog‘s age, and that they wanted some nominations for it, I decided that it would be about time that I would do some nominations for it.

So here are some Arts that I made that I nominated by myself. Even if they don’t pick them all today, you can still see how good they are. They have to be 240 pixels wide by 330 pixels tall, so I made them that way, which makes them all smaller than when they were to start.

Here are some other Arts that I have made, but they really didn’t work out too well as very small ones, or they were the wrong shape to make into 240 pixels wide by 330 pixels high.

I have always really liked this GIF poster. (Maybe one day I will have a paper one hanging on my wall but the UNCLE @jimgrooms will still be moving.)

“All These Jim Grooms Can’t Be Wrong” animated GIF DS106 Promo Poster by @iamTalkyTina

This is a very nice poster that I made for Prisoner106. But when it goes small it is too hard to read all the good words.

Plus this was a nice GIF art of UNCLE @jimgroom (see more here):

“Pixellated Groom” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Then there are some nice GIF ones that I made:

“Kaleidoscopic Hyperbolic iamTalkyTina,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

And then there are probably my two all time favourite self-portraits of me that I made.

“Midnight Scrapbooking,” by @iamTalkyTina, on Flickr

And this one of me and my #TrueFriends:

There are lots of other Art that I made, and you can see them all if you read all of my blog posts and look at my Flickr pages.

There WERE Socks, and UNCLE Jim Groom Knew It!

UNCLE @JimGroom Dancing at the Massive DS106 Socks

UNCLE @JimGroom Dancing at the Massive DS106 Socks

Despite what UNCLE @JimGroom may say, we all know that there WERE socks! And thus, #sockgate.

This is an image taken of UNCLE @JimGroom doing one of his Assignment 1001 Jim Dancing All Over the World times, and as you can see, he is right there where the massive DS106 socks are, and so he knows about them. Plus, it was his idea, too.

If you want to see just a picture of the socks, I put one on my Flickr. And if you go there, it has a link back here to this post where I have the animated GIF one.

Plus, this is for The Daily Create, 1602, which said to show how Massive DS106 is. We all KNOW that it is massive, plus it has MASSIVE SOCKS. And a Dancing UNCLE @JimGroom.

Some of My Shield Maiden Ancestors had Beards

My #DigitalViking Ancestors were Shield Maidens, image by iamTalkyTina, on Flickr

Well, it was that Amy Burvall (@AmyBurvall, on Twitter) who said about a Thinkerings video tonight on Twitter that she made about #DigitalVikings that had me immediately digging in the family ancestral shoeboxes for relatives that were like that. But first, you should watch it.

Thinkerings, Episode 2: #DigitalVikings, by Amy Buvall

My Ancestral #DigitalViking Shield Maidens

It took me about an hour to find a bunch of their pictures, and then I shared them on my Flickr so that Amy and other #DigitalViking folks could see my pedigree of it.

Other people like Alec Couros (@courosa, on Twitter) were once things like #DigitalSherpas, or people like Don Tapscott said #DigitalNatives, and me (@iamTalkyTina, on Twitter), I always say #DigitalTrueFriends, but tonight Amy was saying #DigitalVikings.

So without any more do, here is an embedded slideshow gallery of it for you to see, with their names.

(photos by iamTalkyTina, on Flickr CC BY-NC-SA)

Plus, I made my current Twitter icon of it, instead of the #western106 one that was there before. I don’t know if #ds106 is going to be a Viking one one day. Maybe there are not too many media for it.

iaTT_DigitalViking

But, also UNCLE Jim Groom (@jimgroom, on Twitter) was also saying about his #RedSonja comic book wallet and Xena: Warrior Princess, and maybe I can get the starring role in the reboot of it if Lucy Lawless doesn’t get it.
