Process and Attributions:

  1. I took a single frame from my ThoughtVectors GIF, and cropped it square.
  2. I rotated it 1/8 of a rotation successively (Edit>Transform>Rotate), just eyeballing the 1/8ths, saving out 8 new files.
  3. I ran each file through the Hyperbolic Image Generator, using the
  4. I assembled the 8 hypberbolic images into an 8-frame GIF, using a delay of zero seconds for each frame.
  5. I wrote lyrics for my song.
  6. For the music, I located a MIDI version of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.
  7. I imported the MIDI file into Garageband and tweaked the various instruments, pumping up the bass and the melody.
  8. I went into the Village Studio and recorded my beautiful singing tracks.
  9. I labouriously slaved over the mixing decks to get the levels just right.
  10. I pressed the Share button and exported my music.
  11. I uploaded my KaleidoscopicHyperboliciamTalkyTina.gif and my KaleidoscopicHyperboliciamTalkyTina.mp3 music file, and then used the John Johnston secret code (thanks again, again, John!) to add the press-the-GIF-to-hear-the-music trick so that you can press the GIF to hear the music while you look at it. You can also press the GIF a second time to turn off the music to save the batteries when you are done. Thank you for conserving the batteries. 

Although I had a lot of this work done the day I posted the single frame image for The Daily Create 1285 , a little mission got in the way and it took me a while to get back and into the studio to complete the audio recording. But now it is all done and ready for True Friends to enjoy!

So there was this one time when UNCLE Jim (@jimgroom, on Twitter) was photobombing Tim Berners-Lee at a conference, and he was being all stealth and everything so that Tim wouldn’t notice, but he didn’t even notice when I was photobombing him!

So he posted his picture on the Internet on his bavatuesdays.com, and then I posted my picture right after (it’s right up there, up above!), just to show him.

So that is what True Friends are all about, right Jim?

It’s a thing to make an Art out of UNCLE @jimgroom. Lots of peoples do it! There are dancing ones, poster ones, and noisy ones, plus more!

Yesterday for The Daily Create tdc1160 was to make a ransom note to get Jim Groom back. My True Friend David Kernohan made a pretender Tina one saying give him animated GIFs to get Jim out.

After that, I got Jim and said make more animated GIFs, but these ones of Jim. I found a cool font on dafont.com called mpf-kidnapped and played with that for a while, but in the end, I used a web-based kidnap-letter generator at strix.org.uk/ransom/ and uploaded a custom image background to get UNCLE Jim in the picture.

So I have Jim now and I am demanding 10 Animated GIFs of Jim Groom to get him out. Not just a plain old animated GIF, but an animated GIF of Jim Groom. Plus, the deadline is midnight tonight, otherwise I will keep him longer. So you DS106 peeps get to work!

I was going to keep him until I got 106 Animated GIFs of Jim Groom, but I would not be able to stand it that long.

To start things going, I am personally donating ONE JimGroom Animated GIF (up above) to the kitty*.

But, to keep it formal and so that you know I mean business, I made an Assignment of it.

Well, today was a very nice day for Friends.

Wonderful Music

It was so wonderful when I woke up this morning and heard that wonderful song “Look What Happened to Tina” that my wonderful True Friend Vivien Rolfe (@VivienRolfe, on Twitter) made for me. Plus, that dog, Spike (not on Twitter, I don’t think) was doing dog singing. But not that David (@dkernohan, on Twitter) this time he said. It was all Viv, he said. He was doing other stuff.

So in case you didn’t hear it, here is the wonderful song that Viv made for me. It is about me. And Art. And Friends. Plus, noir.

Then, while I was listening to that song over and over again, and dancing, it was that David‘s (@dkernohan, on Twitter) time so shine.

So he had made a great game called 2048 Super MOOC Pioneers Edition which lets you put MOOC people together to make more MOOC people.

It was fun to play it and a made for a happy time every time I saw @downes or @audreywatters or @davecormier, or UNCLE @jimgroom, and I even got a George Siemens (@gsiemens, on Twitter)!

Then, David said I should make a True Friends one of it.

I said, “OK, I will.” But it was kind of a hard task for me. I have many True Friends! 

In the end, I had to pick and choose just some of my True Friends to put into my own 2048: @iamTalkyTina’s True Friends Edition game. I made the icons all into #noir106 ones because of #noir106. It looks like this when you start to play.

I was thinking that it might be fun one day to have it randomize the game pieces from my True Friends Index, so that each time you played the game, you would get a different set of True Friends. It would even be fun to have the game pieces change DURING the game! You know, just for added adventure and excitement!

Well, a month is a long time to go between a GIFfight challenge, so I figure that since this Salvadore Dali  one was posted on November 24th and it is now the 27th of December, it is time for someone to make the next GIFfight.

Well, this started out as The Daily Create TDC916 two-limerick Physics lesson, but there was a little more to tell to provide the proper context, so I wrote down a little bit more limericks to say a bit more of the story.  Now it has six instead of just two. But not all about Physics. Plus, I made that animated GIF up there called “Dreams of Stairs and True Friends.”

Their once was a dolly named Tina,
With a glowing and Friendly patina.
With her eyes wet and misty,
She was brought home by Christie,
Who became the first True Friend of Tina.

Mom and Christie came home from the store.
From the car to their house’s front door.
But with some trepidation,
and a queasy sensation,
Trouble met them there on the first floor.

Now at this point we’ll be shifting the focus,
With some poetic hocusy-pocus,
From omniscient thee,
To the first person me,
We’ll continue with I as the locus.

That Erich, he was a bad papa,
With his yelling’ and shoutin’ improppa.
He cut me and squished me,
Tried to burn me and ditch me.
Despite all our pleas, he don’t stoppa.

With my Friend Christie cryin’ and ballin’,
In the late night that Erich came callin’.
But he tumbled and tripped,
Summersaulted and flipped.
Them stairs stopped him dead with that fallin’.

So my True Friend grew up to be strong.
After that, me, I moved right along.
With spy missions and acting,
Ninja skills and some packing*,
My list of True Friends now is long.

This is a little GIF that I made today for a little project I am working on. I will share the little project when it is done. But in the intervening time, just stare at this for a few minutes (put on a pomodoro timer like my Super True New Old Radio Friend Scott (@scottlo on #ds106radio), and then you will understand.

August 2013 GIF Challenge #11: Get Your Wiggle on, with Friends!

Another kind of GIF that you can do for 3D is to make a Stereo Wigglegram GIF. That is where you make a GIF out of two pictures that are almost the same except they are taken from two slightly different angles (like when you eyes see something like with binoculars and so your brain puts them together into one picture but it has a 3D to it) and so when the wiggle happens back and forth you see both pictures but your brain kind of puts them together and you get a Wiggle.

So here is one that I made of me standing in front of the all my True Friends picture that my brother Todd (@iamTalkyTodd)made for me and got plak mounted for me so that I can see all of my True Friends at the one time when I look at it.

In the Wigglegram, I made it so that the edges of the True Friends picture pretty much lined up, and that makes ME being the part of the picture doing the wiggle.

Another way to line it up is to make your thing at the front be the thing that lines up and then that makes the backgrounds different and the background is the part of the picture doing the wiggle. But normally that kind of background Wiggle makes me more dizzy than if it is the front part of the picture doing the wiggle.

The big one up at the top makes it look like I am dancing! Boogie down Tina.

This kind of GIF is known as Visual Assignment 352: Wiggle Stereoscopy here in the assignment bank, and was put into the ds106 Assignment Bank by Bill Genereux. It is a fun and easy kind of GIF that you can make super quick using just two pictures and you don’t need to do anything fancy like fancy layers or anything. There is even an app that you can use on your iPhone to make it called 3D Camera by Juicy Bits. And that app can also make your picture into a kind of 3D picture with cyan and magenta that you look at with those blue and red glasses like the Count Floyd kind that he likes. But that is not a GIF so it is a different one.

So make some more Art, bub, like a Stereo Wigglegram GIF, or a Monster Chiller Horror Theatre 3D GIF, or especially a Rainbows and Unicorns GIF to help the ds106.us servers keep in their happy place!

Last night, a True Friend (@onepercentyellow) confirmed on Twitter that she thought that my new @iamTalkyTinaHulka avatar was a bit [Mean Word] because of my hat. So I thought it would be nice to make it more nice with some nice daisy flowers.

I think this is a good thing to do for anything that might not be as nice as it would be with daisy flowers. Like when the Hippies put flowers in the guns to make them more peaceful guns. So today, I made a new Animated GIF Assignment 1189: Add Some Flower Power, and I am challenging YOU to make something nicer by adding some animated daisy flowers.

Isn’t that a nice idea for Friends to do?

I found my nice daisy flower pictures for free on this site (it has lots of them). But I bet you can find nice daisy flowers everywhere on the Internet, and you can re-seed them on some pictures to make those picture even nicer.
