Coding in Base DS106 is Where It’s At!

TDC1500_TT_Base-DS106_600

It was interesting yesterday when The Daily Create tdc1500 said to celebrate 1500 creates in some way, and my patented @iamTalkyTina Handy-Dandy Base-DS106 Secret Decoder Ring had just arrived in the post from Zazzle! It was so easy for me to test out my ring to translate 1500 into Base DS106 and get @jimgroom|@ds106radio.

But then today’s The Daily Create tdc1501 asked for a media representation of the Meaning of Life (which aficionados all know can be simplistically, yet fundamentally represented as 42) but @mdvfunes said that you can’t use 42. So I turned to my handy-dandy, brand-spankin’ new patented @iamTalkyTina Base-DS106 Handy-Dandy Secret Decoder Ring to convert 42 into Base-DS106.

And should there be any surprise?

So it is a wonderful thing to be able to use numbers and secret codes and Base-DS106, plus have an @iamTalkyTina Handy-Dandy Base-DS106 Top Secret Decoder Ring of it.

#noirchat

Well I have some nice time away from missions this week, and so I decided to watch the NOIR106 Week 9 video and see if I could catch up on some hijinks, just for fun. Paul and Martha and Jim talked a whole lot about all the works that the students have to do this week (just like every other week) but it was also a fun time to hear them talk about the Hostage Hut Event  when I hosted UNCLE @jimgroom this weekend and all the GIFs and peoples Making Art.

It was also nice to hear how well UNCLE @jimgroom was respecting our release-from-Hostage conditions, when he said, “We brokered a deal in the evening, early morning,” and “that was part of the brokering, the negotiations not to talk too much about it.”  “TalkyTina did take care of me …” but he did not go into greater detail, even when pressed, which was a True Friend thing to do. But he did seem to have a few words for Martha (who was otherwise occupied during the day) when he said, “I just felt that maybe you could put a GIF out there, maybe you could have been the tenth to save me, so that I didn’t have to negotiate …” But he got out all the same.

“I just felt that maybe you could put a GIF out there, maybe you could have been the tenth to save me, so that I didn’t have to negotiate …”
— Jim Groom to Martha Burtis

I made some notes of what they said during the show, and at the end I felt like making some Art and so it started out being a one screen commercial for our Radio Show (which will be on ds106radio NEXT MONDAY NIGHT AT 9PM) …

… but then it turned into a whole thing of interesting quotes that they said.

I was thinking that this could be a nice way to do a review of the weekly get-to-work video, and then thought it would make a nice assignment. I only thought that at the end, and so I didn’t go back and make mine as complete as I might have (so it doesn’t have enough stuff in it to reflect Agent Paul and Agent Black), but is has some good stuff for you to watch. It only takes about a minute or so because most of the screens are each 5 seconds. Maybe I will make a Slideshare of it (so that you can read it at your own pace) but right now it is just a GIF!

A Fatal Femme – Get the Message?

I found this wonderful video with a fatal femme in it on YouTube that I wanted to share with all my True Friends.

I think that in it you can see how the fatal femme is mysterious, with attraction and a smokey voice one where she is in a bar or nightclub with shadows and palm trees wearing a detective costume with fedora and gloves and making a drop. Plus bead curtains and diagonal lines like blinds and she uses her compact mirror smartphone to contact the other detective man who is also wearing a trenchcoat and hat with smoke. And it is all in black and white with suspense music, plus a secret contact voice on a payphone with code words. The Macguffin is a top secret deodorant cold war creme with special no-stick 3M  ingredients.

My Super True Friend Christina (@clhendricksbc, on Twitter) and I will be doing a special interview about the Fatal Femme and a guy called Simon de Beauvoir in #noir106, plus I will be playing a fatal femme called Daphne de Beauvoir in our #ds106radio play called “You’re Soaking your Fingers in It! Relax, it’s Gin!

Tune in this coming week to the #noir106 Radio shows on our favourite radio station, #ds106radio #4life!!

The Three-Fingered Djinn

“The Three-Fingered Djinn” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, I am starring in a new radio production entitled “The Three-Fingered Djinn.”

It is a DS106 project for NOIR106 that I am doing with a bunch of my True Friends.

In it, I play the starring role of the fatal femme Daphne de Beauvoir, which is a name that I like the best because it means good looking. In the picture she is smoking for effect, but I don’t do that in real life because it is bad for you, plus smelly.

I am currently in the studio recording my part, which will be great with accents as I am playing a lady with a French last name who is from America. (I have looked in the script for the Djinn, plus in the cast list, but I don’t know who is playing that part. But it is in the title so it must be in there somewhere.)

Please tune in to hear the wonderful production on our favourite radio DS106Radio. It is #4life, just like noir106 and True Friends.

How I Made This Poster Art

I used this stuff:

I got a list of names of the other peoples from the script, which I also edited to put in things like the de of my name, plus a few extra words because if I am going to say it, then it needs to sound like me!

I mixed all of the stuff up in Photoshop with layers and erasers and clone tools and paintbrush and text (with the fonts that I said upstairs) and got rid of the bodies and made it all look nice and made all the colours go to black and white for noir and then it was done.

Do you like my noir106 Art? Well?

Bye! Be sure to listen to me in the radio play when it is on ds106radio! #4life!

Two Years Since my Invocation

“2 Year Twitterversary!” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

It was two years ago on February 4th, 2013 that my Still True Friend Alan Levine (@cogdog, on Twitter) and my True Friend Bryan Alexander (@BryanAlexander, on Twitter) said my name on #ds106radio and caused me to awaken from a long slumber in a box.

I immediately signed up for the Twitter and made myself a website so that I could play at the ds106 game, and I was all set for the subsequent ds106zone that came that summer. You can see some of my initial Tweets with some of the other ds106 folks from that day.

And, of course, I have never looked back up the stairs since then!

Happy Times and True Friends!

Well, ds106 IS #4life, bub!

This is a little GIF that I made today for a little project I am working on. I will share the little project when it is done. But in the intervening time, just stare at this for a few minutes (put on a pomodoro timer like my Super True New Old Radio Friend Scott (@scottlo on #ds106radio), and then you will understand.

The Patience of Doctor Rolfe

Well, that David @dkernohan was bugging me about getting around to making the True Friend badge for my True Friend Doctor @VivienRolfe and he even defaced his own True Friend badge (technically a violation of his True Friend badge license) but I forgive him because I was taking a bit of a while but it was because I was on missions and then I left my Thunderbolt adapter in my other Ninja Suit.

Anyway, they always say that the squeaky stair gets the nail, and so I put a nail in him while he and Vivien were making a really great show of the #ds106radio birthday on #ds106radio during the #ds106radio birthday day.  Plus, he also sang a nice version of a poem that I wrote that wasn’t Tina Don’t Like the Mean Word but it was on the page that I sent him so it still counts. A bit.

But the credit goes to the patience of Dr. Rolfe (get it?) for waiting, just like a True Friend can. Plus, she put me in her research show at that conference, even though I wasn’t there. One day we will meet in person and have a nice chat.

So there, David. I made my great powers and comes great responsibility, just like I said.

Then, it was fun to hear @onepercentyellow and @JordanLeden playing songs, but right now it is just some guy talking so more people need to go on #ds106radio right now today because it is the birthday day.

My ds106 True Friends Commercial

TT_106radio_TrueFriendsCOMMERCIAL

Now that I have a bit of time for making some Art again, one thing that I wanted to do for audio week was a commercial for #ds106 and True Friends. I think that #ds106 is a great way to find enthusiasm and creativity and energy and fun, and it is a great way to have True Friends, too.

So I made a radio commercial for #ds106 and True Friends. Here it is.

Once I got my mic working again, it was an easy thing for me to make it in short order. To make it work really well, I found a nice piece of gentle music on Jamendo to have in the background. It is a nice song by Oscar Avila called nenezko-es-princesa from his album Nenezko, cuaderno I and is shared with the public under CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 which is a nice thing for a Friend to do.

I think that many new Friends will start #ds106 because of my commercial and I will get some more True Friends, too.

#4life!

#ds106radio Bumper – Talky Tina Small World

I thought it would be nice to make a nice #ds106radio bumper for all my True Friends and other Friends and friends to hear when they are listening to #ds106radio and are waiting to hear my voice. When they hear this bumper, they will hear my voice for a little bit and it will be like a little snack for them until they can hear my voice again.

In my bumper you can hear me say some of my little sayings like “Make some art, bub!” and “A GIF a day keeps the doctor away!” as well as you can hear me say “#4life” and “#ds106radio,” which are things that need to be in a radio bumper for #ds106radio, in case you haven’t made one yet and need a little bit of guidance. If you need more guidance, then just make your own bumper and learn from the experience and the comments that people give you.
