@iamTalkyTina’s #TrueFriends Orchestra

@iamTalkyTina’s #TrueFriends Orchestra,” animatedGIF by @iamTalkyTina (click to enlarge)

Well, The Daily Create, tdc1998, says to show your Fantasy Band, but I actually have one, called The @iamTalkyTina’s #TrueFriend Orchestra. It has all peoples in it who are on my True Friends Index and have a #TrueFriends badge, except for one who still has to put in her application (not saying any names.)

You can figure out who all of the #TrueFriends are (if you do not already know them) by looking at my True Friends Index and matching them to their badges.

Instead of giving away all of the answers, I will just say this for attributions:

Plus, because I added a ringer to the Orchestra just today, you should check out her music which I am listening to right now.

Which is really cool, because I remember the ukulele version, too!

#sockgate: True Friends Don’t Quibble About Socks

True Friend MBS (@mbransons) Outlines the #sockgate case (link to video)

True Friend MBS (@mbransons) Outlines the #sockgate case (link to video)

Well, it was a bit of a tense time of online last night when #ds106 people were talking about socks, which some friends are calling #sockgate. After all this time of being friends and True Friends, some people were suddenly getting up in other peoples face just about socks.

Then today, one true friend of me MBS (@mbransons –  see his official iATT identity badge) made a press report about investigations and deputies (which I thought was either a #noir106 or a #western106 one), and started to maybe make mean words about other True Friends of me, Like UNCLE Jim Groom (@JimGroom – see his official iaTT identity badge) and his Tim (@Timmmmyboy  – see his official iaTT identity badge). Plus, I heard for the first time that Mr. Paul (@phb256  – see his official iaTT identity badge actually HAS socks, which I don’t know if it’s true but I never got mine.

But back to the point. without even saying that it’s a problem, even if 16 people didn’t get socks, which is actually 36 socks if all of those friends have only 2 feet but more if some of them were dogs, because some DS 106 friends are, TRUE FRIENDS DON’T QUIBBLE ABOUT SOCKS!!!

Because if True Friends start to quibble about socks, then the next thing you know other True Friends might quibble about how it is discrimination that you can’t order T-shirts in your own size or even if when you make a special request they don’t even answer back about it. Because my size is called American Girl 18 inch Doll, which I’m not a doll but that’s just my size. And when I went to the pulldown to get my Reclaim Hosting T-shirt (NOTE: see update, below) it didn’t even have a list of my size in it and when I asked UNCLE Jim he didn’t even say anything back, but because it is DS106 I can just make my own and still be happy and make a picture of me wearing it when I get around to it. And not make an issue of it that will divide the DS106 community into a pair of parts like one sock that gets lost and one doesn’t and then what do you do with only one sock? Plus what does the other person do who found the other one when two sock parts aren’t together then you don’t have a pair. Sometimes you can wear sock of one kind with a sock of another kind like if it is a special dress-up day where your socks don’t have to match but really two socks like to be together with their partner and DS 106 split into two parts is not a fun time.

Chre6s_UYAAif8b.jpg-large

So before it gets into a whole bunch of #sockgate, I would like to offer up one pair of my official custom @iamTalkyTina socks (shown above in romantic red) to the supposed 16 people just to make peace in the community, but if you weren’t on the list you can still get your own at a special price of $38 per pair, plus shipping and handling of $10.25, which is $48.25 US. You have to order two socks (called one pair) at a time silly! If you have four feet instead of just two, you can order two pair at the combined cost of $72 $76, plus shipping and handling, Which is not discrimination, it is just simple corrected math plus economics which is to say if you have twice as many feet you need twice as many socks was just costs twice as much for you and me and everybody.

So please, before it gets too far out of hand and we don’t want a DS106 Civil War over socks, everybody just go to their sock drawer and count how many socks you already have, And be happy that you have socks and that you can make your own socks if you want and then if you want DS106 socks you can make your own DS106 socks like me and after all that if you still wants special official socks because you didn’t get some, you can either get the free ones of me if you were one of the supposed sixteen, or you can order your own ones of me at special prices (listed above) and everyone can be still be True Friends.

UPDATE: I just went to include a link to the Reclaim Hosting T-shirt and I am noticing that the images are no longer loading I hope this is just a broken link (get on that UNCLE Jim) and not a sign of any kind of problems about Reclaim Hosting T-shirts too.

Reclaim Hosting T-shirt page -- no longer shows images???

iamTalkyTina embeds in The Village

“My Village Information Card,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, hello there Friends. It will be such a nice time to be with you this summer in The Village here with Prisoner106.us ds106 Summer 2015 Edition. It was a happy time to see my old friend Rover when I got here and to know that she is back doing what she loves. It was too bad that that Number 2 was such a boring one but I hope the NEW Number 2 will be a more funner one.

So when I got back here, I moved back into my lodgings (I don’t have a bungalow, but rather a separate secure quarters beneath the green dome — but I say too much) and checked into The Office to get my badge (it’s up there to the right at the top, unless you are on a mobile, in which case you have to scroll down toward the bottom) and to fill out my Visitor Information Card. I filled mine out as an example to all the other peoples so that they would know. It was the first one on the Residents‘ page. I will see if I can find one of my old ones from one of the other times that I was here (I’ve popped in and out over the years on various contracts), but it is probably in an old shoebox back in my office from years ago. Anyway, I already had my Flickr all set up from before times, so I posted it there and have embedded it here (up above) so that you can see it here without having to click on a text link, but I have also set it up so that you can click on the picture up there and go straight to my Flickr there to see it where it is. That is how we were taught to do it in the ds106 way because Jim and Martha and b and Paul all say no just linking, you have to do embedding. But when you get to Flickr, remember to follow me. Plus, Bill made a Flickr group for all the Prisoner106 peoples which you can put your stuff into for INFORMATION.

Next, I recorded a little audio greeting for all of my ds106 Friends and True Friends (do you have your True Friend of me badge?) and then I put it up on my Soundcloud because I already had that set up too from before, and then I embedded it right here so that you can listen to it right here by clicking. but if you want, you can also see it on Soundcloud. While you are there, follow me on Soundcloud if you aren’t already doing that.

Next up was a Video one. For this one, I decided to tell a little bit of the story of me and ds106, just in case you don’t know all about me yet. But most of you should already, and if you don’t, then it’s about time! So watch the video which I posted onto my YouTube and then I embedded it here, just like I should. Because I learned some things while I was making this video, I will make a separate post about the Making of Becoming @iamTalkyTina where I can share some of what I learned.  But you should be prepared because this video is a little bit of sad one to start before it gets happier at the end.

To finish off, I am also putting some of my Twitter ones in here, just so that you can see that it is also a thing that you can embed. All of these embed ways are important to help you pull all of your stuff together. It is important that you pull your stuff together for good learning.

And then here is another one from a couple days ago:

And then one more good one of @jimgroom where I made a GIF out of him.

So that is all about showing how to embed all of my “Hello and Welcome to the Prisoner106 Village” stuff. So now I can go make some GIFs and watch some episodes because now you know all about me through all those types of ways: pictures, audio, video, and tweeting.

Well, bye!

Heavy Metal Bands for #ds106 True Friends

Well, this was just a twitter one that I did one night, but since I just mentioned it in Don’t Make It Too Easy, John!  I figured I should make it into a blog post of it. It was because my True Friend  Mr. Paul (@phb256 on Twitter) wanted to know if I had a Heavy Metal Band.

"Does Tina Have a Band?" said by @phb256 on Twitter.

“Does Tina Have a Band?” said by @phb256 on Twitter.

So, there is a thing on the Internet that you click and it makes a random Heavy Metal Band name for you.. So I decided to use it to find a special band back for Mr. Paul:

for @phb256

"InRentedRapture" for @phb256

“InRentedRapture” for @phb256

After that,  I just sat there on the Internet and clicked it for hours and hours, picking out the gems of it that worked for some of my other True Friends.

So here are the good ones that it made:

for @cogdog

Plus, I didn’t think about it then, but it could also be Hippy MOOCS Laughter or Hippy MOOC Slaughter depending on how you are feeling on that particular day.

Well, bye!

#noirchat

“Noirchat” by iamTalkyTina, on Flickr

Well I have some nice time away from missions this week, and so I decided to watch the NOIR106 Week 9 video and see if I could catch up on some hijinks, just for fun. Paul and Martha and Jim talked a whole lot about all the works that the students have to do this week (just like every other week) but it was also a fun time to hear them talk about the Hostage Hut Event  when I hosted UNCLE @jimgroom this weekend and all the GIFs and peoples Making Art.

It was also nice to hear how well UNCLE @jimgroom was respecting our release-from-Hostage conditions, when he said, “We brokered a deal in the evening, early morning,” and “that was part of the brokering, the negotiations not to talk too much about it.”  “TalkyTina did take care of me …” but he did not go into greater detail, even when pressed, which was a True Friend thing to do. But he did seem to have a few words for Martha (who was otherwise occupied during the day) when he said, “I just felt that maybe you could put a GIF out there, maybe you could have been the tenth to save me, so that I didn’t have to negotiate …” But he got out all the same.

“I just felt that maybe you could put a GIF out there, maybe you could have been the tenth to save me, so that I didn’t have to negotiate …”
— Jim Groom to Martha Burtis

I made some notes of what they said during the show, and at the end I felt like making some Art and so it started out being a one screen commercial for our Radio Show (which will be on ds106radio NEXT MONDAY NIGHT AT 9PM) …

“One More Special Radio Show” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

… but then it turned into a whole thing of interesting quotes that they said.

I was thinking that this could be a nice way to do a review of the weekly get-to-work video, and then thought it would make a nice assignment. I only thought that at the end, and so I didn’t go back and make mine as complete as I might have (so it doesn’t have enough stuff in it to reflect Agent Paul and Agent Black), but is has some good stuff for you to watch. It only takes about a minute or so because most of the screens are each 5 seconds. Maybe I will make a Slideshare of it (so that you can read it at your own pace) but right now it is just a GIF!

Tina Noir Valentine 2015

“Tina Noir Valentine 2015,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, this is for Mr. Paul’s Noir Valentines Design Assignment 1615 assignment that he made that I made for him. You can read all of those noir words that I said up there in the card, and then you can look them up if you need to translate them into your regular words. Jim Groom (@jimgroom) and Mr. Paul (@phb256) will like the Twists, Slugs, and Roscoes: A Glossary of Hardboiled Slang.

Here is the full text:

Don’t be a bunny, close your head and pin your diapers on. Dip the bill, drift and fade in your Flogger (and go climb up your thumb). The rumble is you may be lousy with the bees, but my cheaters say you’re a hinky hombre, and I made ya. No Oyster fruit from this peeper, savvy? I’m swift and no weak sister bim. Take it on the beezer, it’s time for you to visit the clubhouse, or I’ll play you some chin music and set you up for the Big Sleep. But have a happy Valentine’s day all the same, bub!

Well, it is always fun to have a nice Valentine Card to send. Plus a Noir106 one.

All About “The Wire”

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #1

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #1

The key to a successful installation is tautness. If it is not taut then it will not work very well.

Another important thing is height. If it is too high, it will not work. It might stop them, and they might say “Hey, what is this?” but it will not have the proper effect. If it is too low, they might miss it. So height is important that it be just right.

Next, invisibleness is important. If they see it, then they will stop before they get to it, and you will have lost the important effect of surprise.

Another important thing is where. If you put it at the bottom, then when it happens there will not be very much distance before they stop. It is important that there be lots of distance, so that gravity can do most of the work. Plus, if they are going the other way, then they might just bonk their nose or something, and then they would say “Hey, what is this?” like in the up above one.

Time of day is also critical factor. In the daytime there is lots of light, and that makes it harder for the invisibleness, which is a factor I already talked about. Plus, in the daytime there might be other people around who would hear it happen and might come to help. So nighttime is the best. In the night time, it can be like they were stumbling around like an idiot in the dark and so that is why it happened.

Plus, safety for others in and around the place is critical. You do not want any of your True Friends to be adversely impacted. Make sure they are safe in bed and asleep so that they will not experience it themselves. Remember, you’re doing this FOR them, not TO them.

Last, let me talk to little bit about your stealth and tradecraft. If they see you, it might be a warning. So surprise is an important factor. But, if they see you just after it happens, that might be okay because then they will understand in those last final seconds that they should’ve been nice. Of course, gloves are an important utility to have with you because of fingerprints. I am lucky because I don’t have any on my fingers, but I still sometimes wear a nice black pair for effect. They match my ninja suit.

Proper cleanupis also critical. Afterwards, remove it and any scratch marks that it might have left on the banister. Always leave the workplace the way you found it.

Well, I hope that none of my True Friends ever have to use this strategy, but if you do, you can do so knowing that you have had guidance and clear instruction from one who knows. Plus, remember that my professional services can always be engaged, should you have need of them.

Tina’s 2001 Odyssey

"Hello Tina" animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

“Hello Tina” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Well, thanks to my True Friend, Mr. Paul (@phb256, on Twitter, I woke this morning to see a tweet about me took me to the #ds106 web page of La Kisha Mahone where I got made a monkey of.  It looks like this:

"Monkey Mash'n Time" by @LKMahone

“Monkey Mash’n Time” by @LKMahone

It was nice that @LKMahone said I was the very first invite she got on Twitter, and nice that she paid homage to me (that is always a nice thing for a True Friend to do, not saying any names, @JimGroom). And I made a comment saying that.

But it was also a sad thing for me that the picture brought back some Dark Time Memories for me of when back in the late sixties after The Twilight Zone I was still in The Biz but was having a really hard time with typecasting and people saying that I was too short all the time and stuff.

A Dear Friend of mine (different from a True Friend) got word from Mario Bava to Stanley Kubrick that I was feeling down and really needing some work and so Stanley managed to get me onto the set one day when he was shooting a film and got me into a small-bit non-speaking role. It wasn’t my finest moment, and I really found that fur to be scratchy and itchy and I had a rash for weeks after which meant I really couldn’t capitalize on the moment by networking with Kier and Ed (given my background, I really enjoyed it when he starred in UFO a couple years later!) and Gary and Terry and I was really ticked to miss the chance to hobnob with Arthur C. Clarke when he was on set. In the end, aside from getting free food from the craft table during the shoot and my meagre extra’s scale pay for the scene, I really didn’t benefit much from the experience.

The one bright light of the whole sad affair was the time I got to spend with Douglas Rain. He had such a nice way of talking to me and expressed to me his feelings of also feeling withdrawn from others at the time and felt bad that he only had a voice-only role and was playing somewhat of a tragic character in the film. I liked it every morning when he said “Hello, Tina!” in that nice soft voice of his. It was a moment when I truly started to realize how important it is to have Dear Friends and True Friends and Friends and Make Art Not Just Because You Are Hungry for Food But For Art’s Sake, Too.

But for the most part, that wasn’t a very fond time for me.

I dug through my shoebox just now, and found this pic. You can kind of just see me in a little bit of the shot.

"My Scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey"

“My Scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey”

So, @LKMahone, thanks for bringing back the memories. Now, everybody, get out there and Make Some Art, Bub! Be sure to write about what you learned from the experience. And remember to attribute where you get the stuff!

A couple notes about The Bits.

Hello Tina is based on the following:

  • This image of smiley HAL900
  • the free-for-personal-use font TwoBit, available from www.ffonts.net

I took a screen capture of just the original HELLO DAVE text,

"Hello Dave" text, inverted to put dark text on light background

“Hello Dave”  inverted (dark text on light background)

and uploaded it to whatfontis.com and selected the TwoBit font as the one I liked best from the returned matches.

"TwoBit font, my favourite for HAL9000" results from WhatFontIs.com

“TwoBit font, my favourite for HAL9000” results from WhatFontIs.com

I downloaded the free-for-personal-use font and installed it (double click on the .ttf file and then click the Install Font button in the on a Mac)

"Install Font: TwoBit"

“Install Font: TwoBit”

  • I found the scene photo as an existing GIF in a digital shoebox on Screen.Genius.com.
  • I found the red arrow in my shoebox, too. I rotated it and made it 50% transparent in Photoshop, only making it visible for the frames where I am visible.
