So Vanna was sporting my 2-gallon hat and my shooting irons when she revealed the special answer to the special question that I put on the show for guests in an upcoming episode. It was nice that today’s The Daily Create was worded the way it was, because it was just a special prompt to have today during my visit with her.

Well, today’s The Daily Create, tdc1467, says to Make Art about a ME ME cowgirl of the west, and so what better a person to talk about than ME!

Back in the day, I was afeared by the lawless, doubly known the duly revered title of “The Law of the Steppes.”  I patrolled the range with the aid of my trusty sidekicker and pal, my pony, “Tripper.” We made a great team, Tripper and I, and those varmints quivered in their boots when they heard tell of our exploits. They would belly up to the bar and try to stand tall while looking my danger straight in the eye (I was standing ON the bar), but in the end, every one of them took the tumble.

Oppressors, thieves, and downright UnFriendly Types, beware The Law of The Steppes, iamTalkyTina.

Artist’s Note: Today’s Art is also intended as a reminder to my True Friend, UNCLE Jim Groom (@jimgroom) just to let him know that I am still watching him, even though he is far around the world in Italy, watching Westerns and eating spaghetti.

All Those Iconic Movie Posters Without Their Icons

So, your job, should you choose to accept it, Mr. Groom, is to identify all of the Iconic Movies that these are the Iconic Movie Posters from, except that I took the Iconic Parts out of them because of The Daily Create, tdc1210, which said to take them out. They are officially called “Absence Art Posters” and the idea comes from a series called “Arrête ton cinéma” by French artistic director Madani Bendjellal. The Daily Create directed us to “Some empty film posters to help you kill time until the working day’s over” on It’s Nice That by James Cartwright, who was highlighting Bendjellal’s work.

Added: As it turned out, I jumped right in and made a whole whack of these before looking at the examples; three of the ones which I painstakingly cleaned up had been previously done by Bendjellal. He had a different starting point for one of his (my Number 5), but I think I cleaned up my Number 3 better by removing more of the iconic bits. I’m okay having left the shadow as a clue for my Number 8. I also removed all traces of clues (film credit footers with directors, actors, etc.) so that you might have to dig a bit deeper for a couple. Number 6 was for Jim Groom, and it led me naturally to number 7, which also turned out nicely.

It’s a thing to make an Art out of UNCLE @jimgroom. Lots of peoples do it! There are dancing ones, poster ones, and noisy ones, plus more!

Yesterday for The Daily Create tdc1160 was to make a ransom note to get Jim Groom back. My True Friend David Kernohan made a pretender Tina one saying give him animated GIFs to get Jim out.

After that, I got Jim and said make more animated GIFs, but these ones of Jim. I found a cool font on dafont.com called mpf-kidnapped and played with that for a while, but in the end, I used a web-based kidnap-letter generator at strix.org.uk/ransom/ and uploaded a custom image background to get UNCLE Jim in the picture.

So I have Jim now and I am demanding 10 Animated GIFs of Jim Groom to get him out. Not just a plain old animated GIF, but an animated GIF of Jim Groom. Plus, the deadline is midnight tonight, otherwise I will keep him longer. So you DS106 peeps get to work!

I was going to keep him until I got 106 Animated GIFs of Jim Groom, but I would not be able to stand it that long.

To start things going, I am personally donating ONE JimGroom Animated GIF (up above) to the kitty*.

But, to keep it formal and so that you know I mean business, I made an Assignment of it.

Over and Over He Stumbles – A Triolet for Eric

Over and over he stumbles,
‘Till he finally comes to a stop.
His unthinking chastising mumbles.
Over and over he stumbles.
Late one night on the stairs they hear rumbles,
As his bod trips right there at the top.
Over and over he stumbles,
‘Till he finally comes to a stop.

Well, the triolet poetry form was a new one to me this morning when I was reading The Daily Create tdc1155, and so I thought it would be fun to try it out. I used a familiar topic, just so that I could focus on the mechanics of the form.

The poem has a pattern of repeating lines as well as rhymes, described by Carol Rumens in this article in The Guardian. It will need eight lines and rhyme ABaAabAB. The capital letters indicate the refrain lines, the lower case letters add the requisite rhyming scheme. You can use any meter.

I found the triolet to be an interesting challenge. Certainly a more substantial effort would be required to get something that fits and yet disguises the form — one challenge is to have the opening refrain communicate a changed or evolving meaning as the poem progresses. I tried to do that with mine, although for most of my Friends, foreknowledge of the back story will cloud the alternative interpretation of the first instance as they jump to the final understanding.

I made this little GIF to perhaps support the triolet a bit. I hope you like it!

Well, today The Daily Create tdc1150 said to make a Star Trek facepalm one, so I did.

This is a picture that is from all of the original stars sitting around the table, like Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and Scotty, but it is one that shows the only one that is still alive.

It is a sad picture.

I am making a facepalm here, because of what happened. Down underneath here is an animated GIF which makes a bit more of explaining in case you didn’t hear about it.

A Happy Birthday for that David

Yet another The Daily Create TDC1128, this one for the birthday of that David Kernohan, @dkernohan.

David has this thing about the Apocalypse, and it is is maybe because of his old band, David and The Four Horsemen. I found this old photo of David and his band. I tracked them all down and had them make their autographs on it for him just so that he could remember the good times.

Happy Birthday, David! (You are a True Friend. You have a badge of it!)

Well, the title of this Art is just a little inside joke for people who are connected to #ds106, and not in a wireless way.

I made this Art for today’s The Daily Create, which said to make a droodle, which is just like a doodle but with an extra R in it maybe because of copyright reasons before there was Creative Commons. It is TDC1114.

Anyway, it is like Stairs but different, for when you are out on the street and someone is following you.

See True Friends In My Eyes

It is just a nice Art that I made for The Daily Create TDC1111 (which is a lot of ones) but then again, I have a lot of ones which are my True Friends, and you can always See True Friends In My Eyes because the eyes are a window into the soul which is where your True Friends are when you let them in.

If you look closely, maybe you can see yourself in my eyes?

It is also a #noir106 one because of black and white and shadows and also because of noir.
