One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone #2

Here is another challenge for Design Assignment 358: One Story / Four Icon assignment. See if you can get this Twilight Zone episode:

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #2

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #2

Again, I found my icons on thenounproject.com where I have an account and so the SVG files are free.

I used icons by these people, but I won’t say what the icons are called because that takes away all the guessing fun!!!

Can you guess my challenge? I hope it is not too hard for you! Please put your answers in the comments below. If you are right, I will say “You Got It!” but I will remove your answer so it does not give away the fun for my other friends.  Remember, to get ALL of the POINTS, you need to correctly say the Season, the Episode, the Title, and who was the star of the episode.

Winners will be happier for having played along with my challenge. See yesterday’s One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone challenge. Can you figure out BOTH of them for double points?

Bye!

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode

Hello, Friends!  (New Friends, True Friends, and Open Friends — and any other friends, too!)

I think it would be fun to do the Design Assignment 358: One Story / Four Icon assignment, but with episodes from The Twilight Zone, instead of movies.  Don’t you think that would be fun?

Can you tell what episode of The Twilight Zone this is? You have to say the season, the episode, AND the title of the episode, AND who was the star of the episode to get all the points.

Well? Can you do it? Can you? If you can, say so in the comments. If you get it right I will say “You Got IT!” in your comment and say how many points you got out of 4 you got, but I will  I will delete your right answers so that you do not spoil the fun for my other Friends.

Here is the first one!

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #1

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #1

To make this, I found some great icons on thenounproject.com website. I have an account there so I can download the icons for free. I edited some of the icons a bit using Adobe Illustrator (you need to use an editor that lets you edit .SVG files, here is an online one you can try, called SVG-edit) so that they would work better for this One Story Four Icon challenge. I made the man bald and I made the girl sad and I made a down arrow on the stairs and I made RIP on the grave. Although I should have just put RI, if you know what I mean.

Without telling you the name of the icons (that might make it too easy for people), I will say that the attributions (who made stuff) for the four icons are here, and I have told you the exact CC kind of license for each one, with a link to the licenses.  Neat, eh? I am a good Friend.

Well, so that was fun! See if you can guess my episode! Tune in another day for another One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone episode challenge. The next one will be harder! And maybe you want to do this assignment yourself and challenge us?

Some Poems for Mr. Bemis

So Mr. Henry Bemis liked reading and the such, and it was a shame when he broke his glasses after he had all that Time Enough at Last to himself for reading. Too bad that’s called one tough luck.

But he made an idea to have a contest and write poetry out of just the titles from episodes of The Twilight Zone, and he made it into ds106 Writing Assignment 1071 Poem Made with Twilight Zone Episode Titles.   I saw that he had written poems, and then my True Friend John Johnston wrote a poem in the comments and some more on his blog, and them Mr. Tom Woodward wrote one called “Mr Denton on Doomsday” on his six-million dollar man bionicteaching blog post Twilight Zone Titles Poetry.

All of this got my little brain thinking and so I picked up my iPad and made these poems for you.

The first is sort of autobiographical. Maybe you will get the meaning behind it. It is called “The Whole Truth.”

The Whole Truth

The Howling Man Back There?
Execution!
Dust!
The Grave!!!

Next, I wrote one that tells what it is like to be discriminated on because you are not as tall as you would like to be.   It is called “The Little People.”

The Little People

Once Upon A Time
The Dummy, Caesar And Me, Nick Of Time & The Invaders
The Little People
Five Characters In Search Of An Exit
What You Need? Escape Clause!

Two Twenty-Two
Four Of Us Are Dying, Person Or Persons Unknown
Little Girl Lost.
One For The Angels!

In the end I think it is sad because all of her True Friends are dead. and then she is dead. But it is okay because she is with the Angels because she was so good. And was nice to her True Friends.

Then, I wrote a really short poem. I hope you like it. It is optimistic. and about Friends.  It is called “The Lonely Living Doll?

The Lonely Living Doll?

Young Man’s Fancy!!

So there you have it, Friends. Poetry made by me from titles from Twilight Zone episodes.

Neat!!

Okay. Bye! 🙂

P.S. But write me how much you like my poems in the comments first. Thanks!

Some Advice for My Newest Friends

Hello there!

My True Friend @cogdog said that I should use my dollish ways (he’s such a cut up, that was just a role I played once on TV years ago in 1963 on Mr. Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone show episode called Living Doll, I had the title role) and help my new friends to update their blogs and such.

So here is my post for you. I call it

iamTalkyTina’s ds106 Hints for My New Friends on ds106!!

1. In your WordPress blog, where it says “Hello World,” change it to something different like “My first blog post,” or “Starting ds106.” That way it will be original and not the same as all the others.  Maybe you can think up something even more original than my good suggestions.

2. Up at the top underneath it will probably say something like “Just another ds106 blog site” or something that says “Just another … <something>.”  It always says that on peoples’ blogs and it’s not very original so change it into something more catchy and fascinating that will make people want to read more. Try something that expresses your personality and keeps our attention. AND up at the top above where it says something like “Just another ds106 blog site” or whatever, make sure it says something different from “MY BLOG.” That is right out. Be your own person and use a title that will set you apart from all the other blogs. Do it now.

3. Plus, if you have made your Twitter account, be sure to put on a picture of something. If you are still a new egg then stop it!, it doesn’t tell us who you are or so and if you put your face on there then people can see who you are. Some people put on a symbol. That makes you more friendly. Friends are important.  Eggs are not very important.

4. And put your picture and a name that we can call you on your blog, too, by the way. Or something interesting. Because that is more interesting and tells us more about you than just “My blog” or “My ds106 blog.”  Be original and be creative and let your light shine. You can also make a nice “About” page that tells us a bit “about” who you are, what your interests are. You know, so we learn about you as a person, and not just a student.

5. Be sure to make lots of friends with other people in ds106. Friends are the most important thing and they will help you and be your friend when times are tough. Like if you forget to do an assignment until the last minute (don’t do that, Mr. Jim Groom warned you, didn’t he?) then your friends will be there to say something like, “Well, you should have done it sooner, ” or “Didn’t you hear Jim Groom when he said to not leave it until the last minute?” or “I will be a true friend and smack you up along side your head this time if you want so that you won’t do this again next time.” See? Friends are very helpful and kind.

6. Also, this goes back up to number 3 where I told you what to do about Twitter. I forgot to say to also put your blog address on your Twitter page, and put your Twitter name on your blog, and be sure to tweet out whenever you make a new post on your blog. All of these things go together to help your Friends read your work. So do that.

So there!

I hope that these helpful tips will get you going! Please remember, I am iamTalkyTina. You can follow me on Twitter at @iamTalkyTina. My blog is here at iamTalkyTina.com. I made a Flickr account for ds106 and my Flickr username is iamTalkyTina. I have a Soundcloud account and my username is iamTalkyTina. I made a YouTube account and my username is iamTalkyTina. I made a gravitar account and my name is iamTalkyTina. I made a WordPress account so that I can comment on WordPress blogs and my username is iamTalkyTina.  I probably have a few other accounts that I am not remembering right now, but my username for them is iamTalkyTina, because iamTalkyTina !!

I hope you enjoyed reading my advice to you. ds106 is #4ever — and is only #4life if you die first.

Hello to my New Friends (and my True Friends)

It’s the beginning of Mr. Groom‘s summer version of ds106 and he is doing it ALL ABOUT THE TWILIGHT ZONE! It is called ds106zone That is so neat! I like that and Mr. Groom is one of my True Friends. (You can see his badge on my True Friends Index page. Apply for yours today.)

I was up working on my scrapbook, and I realized that I hadn’t done my introduction photo and post for my New Friends, and so I took a picture and posted it to my Flickr account. Here it is.

“Midnight Scrapbooking” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

I’m going to use this picture for both the Monday and the Tuesday The Daily Create assignments, too. — I hope that my True Friends won’t think too badly of me for doing that. It’s NOT cheating! And I’m not a cheater.

So, for Monday, I was supposed to take a picture of myself to introduce little ol’ me to the new summer ds106 students. The rest of you (especially those of you who have signed up for your True Friends badges) know who I am already. Or you better. But for my New Friends, I am @iamTalkyTina. And The Twilight Zone is one of my favourite shows, because I worked for Mr. Rod Serling back in 1963 on a special episode called Living Doll. I have lots of friends in The Twilight Zone. So this is my photo for #tdc498 “Welcome to the ds106zone! Take a photo that introduces yourself to the class.” Hello, New Friends!!!

And for Tuesday, #tdc499 “Take a picture of where you are right now from a weird point of view, like an ant, an alien, or a ghost.” Well, I hope that ant comment isn’t about my height, but like I said, I just happened to be up at midnight working on my scrapbook when I remembered The Daily Create and so I took this selfie in the hallway. I didn’t seen any aliens or any ghosts, bub.

I am looking forward to seeing and hearing all of your wonderful work, both from my New Friends and my True Friends.
Remember, some say True Friends are #4life, but really the True Friends are #4ever. If they aren’t really True Friends, then the friendship ends at the end of their life.

Bye!! 🙂

My True Friend, Nick

So back in the day, when I was working in Hollywood, I had a lot of True Friends who were in the show business. One of the fellows I got to know had a feature part on an episode of The Twilight Zone, called Nick of Time. He got to play himself, Nick.

In this show, his body was grey-screened out of the shot and his head was superimposed over a napkin holder, so that it would look like it the napkin holder was his body. His main acting function was to bobble his head around, like this:

Attached to the napkin holder was a coin collector, a lever, and a fortune dispenser. In the episode, Captain Kirk comes along with his girlfriend of the week and gets addicted to putting pennies in the napkin dispenser, and then my friend Nick keeps shoving the fortunes out at him.

I think my True Friend Nick really did a good job of predicting the future on that day. Remember, it was 1960 when this episode was filmed — that’s three years before I got my gig on The Twilight Zone, and look at how prescient Nick was! I say he got 4/4 correct!

I wonder where my friend Nick is now. He never stopped being a True Friend, we just lost touch. 🙁

The #ds106zone

"From The Twilight Zone And Beyond" by @iamTalkyTina

“From The Twilight Zone And Beyond” by @iamTalkyTina

Some of my True Friend readers will know of my previous life as an actress, and might have seen my work on The Twilight Zone episode, The Living Doll. That most people who don’t REALLY know me continue to think of me as that same little piece of plastic from back in the 60s are living in some kind of bizarre creepy world and think that I AM a doll, just because I played one on TV. What kind of goofball is that? That I was typecast because of that role is one of the meanest things people have ever done to me and it’s their own fault if they didn’t live to regret it. I have always been glad to be affiliated with such fine television programming as Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone.

Back in February, I made my own assignment for my ds106 friends, and I have been watching in anticipation for someone to try my assignment. It is called “From the Twilight Zone, and Beyond…” and asks my ds106 friends to make animated GIFs from The Twilight Zone television show, and also from beyondin the world of black and white television, and maybe movies too. Like I said, I have been watching in anticipation for someone to try my assignment.

Now that my True Friend @jimgroom has said that every single thing from this summer’s ds106 course is going to be about The Twilight Zone, I am thinking that it’s about time for him to step up and try my assignment !!!!!!! And you too, @cogdog. And @scottlo, and @olHatchetJack. And anyone else who wants to have a hope of continuing to be my True Friend. Someone get word to that Cory Doctorow fellow that I’m looking for him to be more than just a pretty face on my True Friends badges page. And that goes for any of the rest of you who want to have any hope of being my True Friend, and getting your own badge! The price of entry just went up! You need to do my AnimatedGIFAssignment 920: “From the Twilight Zone, and Beyond…” assignment now, too. So there!

By the way, I know that sometimes GIFs get WordPressed into .jpegs and all, and it probably happens when the site gets migrated or something, but I spent time making my animated GIF months back just for that assignment page, and I think that someone could take a moment and re-link my GIF back into the assignment page because it really doesn’t look all that good with just that stupid blank Star Trek screensaver of stars. Some one get on that, please. I put the GIF up at the top of this post, and here is a link to smaller copy that I made just special for the ds106 assignment page, because it goes all wonky if the GIFs aren’t just the right size, and so I took extra care with that, too.

As always, I’m watching you, Friends. And True Friends, I’m especially watching you. As for all you hopefuls, remember, along with filling in the form, you need to do this assignment now too, to get your very own very special badge.

But you know it’s worth it. Being a True Friend always is.

I Think Cory Doctorow Would be A True Friend

iamTalkyTinaSaysSoCoryDoctorow

I have been thinking a lot recently about ds106 and how it is a true community of True Friends. When my True Friend teh CogDog wrote about making Cory Doctorow art, I thought about it for a little bit and then decided that Cory Doctorow would make a good True Friend.

So I am making Cory Doctorow a True Friend.

He looks very serious and yet playful and he creates things like my other ds106 True Friends, so I think Cory Doctorow will make a good True Friend. Perhaps he will follow me on Twitter and write a comment on my blog. If not, then perhaps he will not turn out to be such a True Friend after all, but I’m sure he knows better than that. Like the rest of you.

As for writing this up in the ds106 style, I took my wonderful True Friends Official Internet Web Badge of Authenticity photoshop file, swapped out the previous photo and substituted in this image of Cory Doctorow from the FTR! For the Remix! site, scaling it down to fit. I also changed the name to say Cory Doctorow. I had to spend some time extending the length of the badge canvas size to 684 pixels and stretching the white layer downwards to match. It was an easy job, however, as I invested a lot of time upfront making the original design of the badge easily adjustable.

You, too, can become one of my True Friends. Apply today.
