Tumble, as endorsed by Tina! (Plus, GIF tutorial!)

“The thesaurus.com entry, as endorsed by Tina,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina (click to embiggen it!)

So I went on a little Learning Curve Rabbit Hole today to do today’s The Daily Create, #tdc2750 which is called Thesaurus Fun.

It all started when I went to do a screen capture on my iPad of the thesaurus for tumble, which was just a word that I picked out of the air, and then when I was looking at the words I liked some of them so I thought I would put a little Tina face beside them so you would know that they were special. So I put the screen capture into the Keynote program on my iPad because that is what I do sometimes when I want to make a thing quickly, with layers, before I can do a screen capture to make the final picture for Twitter. I just went to my Twitter and got my picture and made it really small and put it where it needed to go. Then I decided that some words were better than others so I made copies of my picture right beside each other, like a kind of Tina rating scale.

Still, the pictures were kind of small to move for my fingers on the iPad, and I wanted them to be all lined up with each other, so I thought, “I will make it go through the iCloud to my computer and then I can do a select multiple and an align centre for all of the ones in one column and they will look neat!” So I did that.

But then I started to think it would look even better as an animated GIF (because doesn’t almost everything?) and so I wondered how I could make it export so I could GIF it. But then I found out that Keynote does an Export as GIF one now! FUN! So I did that.

But, sad face! The GIF was too big! it was 14 MB, which is a bit much, even for a really good GIF art. I opened it up in Photoshop to confirm my thinking, and found that it was made of all flattened layers, with everything on every layer which makes things really big.

So I thought, I guess I better do it the right way! So I made a PDF of one page and then opened it in Photoshop and then made each little Tina face into it’s own layer so I could turn them on one at a time with just the background screen capture that I started with way back when as the background in it just one time,

It was a lot of work, and in the end I just went back to making copies of the same Tina face (like I did way back in Keynote on my iPad) but in the end, it made a good GIF. It was only 44 KB, which is about 347 times smaller! Then I made it 1:2 for the Twitter, and added my face and the The Daily Create #2750 and URL references, and in the end it was only 146 KB with that added goodness! (Plus, the GIF is 1000 pixels wide, so if you want to embiggen it to read better, you can!)

Then I wrote this little post about it, and now I am back out of the Rabbit Hole! Bye!

Veduta del Campdoglio (i després arriba un gran peu)

“Veduta del Campdoglio (i després arriba un gran peu)” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

I was at the Art Gallery looking at some old paintings of stairs and I saw this old painting called Veduta del Campdoglio and I decided that I could make it better by turning it into a GIF.

So I did.

Now, it has a more fancy name, called Veduta del Campdoglio (i després arriba un gran peu) which is by me, @iamTalkyTina.

This is for The Daily Create, #tdc2338:gif a painting which said to go to the EUROPEANA ART and then make a GIF of one.

I think that the day I made this one there weren’t as many people there as when the other one was painted, because there are more people in the other one. Maybe they heard on the #ds106radio that there was going to be a foot event and so they stayed home and didn’t fall down.

Now, for the Attributions:

Here is the original cut-and-paste link from the webpage of the old painting.
It says Public Domain:

Kaleidoscope Stairs

For this The Daily Create, #tdc2340: Twisting the Kaleidoscope, the job was to look up at the sky and then make up a thing about like if you were seeing a Kaleidoscope one of it instead of just the regular look of it.

So I was doing a Stairs Tour (that is when I go around and look at stairs, which is another Gig Job that I have sometimes) and so while I was looking at the different stairs, I did the Kaleidoscope thing and so I have a before look and after look at things.

First, I will show the before one, and then beside it is the after one. Plus, the after one is an animated GIF. Because GIFs.

So, this one was a fun time, because I was already on a Stairs Tour, plus Kaleidoscopes.

In case you are wondering about how to see things like a Kaleidoscope, there is a website thing called LunaPic that you can use for them, plus lots of other things.

Here are just some still pictures made with the Kaleidoscope one, not the Kaleidoscope Animation one.

I found all the stairs pictures in different places, like:

UNCLE @JimGroom Does the 3003 Boogie!

“Celebration Disco Dancing UNCLE JimJab” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Well, UNCLE Jim Groom (@jimgroom, on Twitter) went to see the barber and got a clean hairdo. And then he made a selfie. Plus, he had a milestone around his neck of 3003 blog posts in twelve years.

Then my #TrueFriend Todd Conaway (@Todd_Conaway, on Twitter) made UNCLE @jimgroom a badge for it. Because, badges.

Plus, he said knucklehead, and it made me laugh a lot.

So then, I thought about the UNCLE Dancing Jim Around the World assignment, but then decided to do a JimJab (that is where you poke a fun with UNCLE Jim) and so I made the Celebration Disco Dancing UNCLE JimJab one that is up there at the top. To make the head better, I added it myself in Photoshop to make the face shape fit that UNCLE Jim head, so it is more crisp.

Here it is, in case other peoples would like to use it to make an Art.

Well, congratulations to you for 3003 of of those posts, UNCLE Jim!

Now go make some more Art!

Mini Groom & Martha

“Mini-Groom & Martha,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

The Daily Create, tdc2020 asks us to take a favourite piece of art and make it into a modern one using a website called Simplify.Thash.It, and so I did. I picked on of my Pearls of Jim Groom Oyster Pictures with UNCLE Jim (@jimgroom, on Twitter) and Martha (@mburtis, on Twitter). I put it through the grinder to get a modern art one, and then made the before and the after of them into a GIF.

You can choose whether you like a concrete UNCLE Jim & Martha or an abstract one.

Move Along, Bub!

“Shareski — Move Along, Bub!” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Well, I was out in P.E.I. doing some volunteer lifeguarding at my favourite beach, and Dean came along and started making a nuisance of his self. I had to give him a warning ticket and tell him it was time to head back to the potato fields.

This Art is for The Daily Create, tdc2024 which says to tell off Dean using a speech bubble.

Generals

“Generals on the Steps,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

It is a GIF that I made for The Daily Create, tdc2023, which said to make a better rhyme for a bad one that my TrueFriend (who has not yet applied for her badge) Audrey Watters (@audreywatters, on Twitter) said was the worst one in the world. But since I am a polite TrueFriend , I did not actually want to say it, so I made a GIF one instead and you can fill in the blank with your imagination.

For this Art, I used:

UNCLE @JimGroom and Me

“Uncle @JimGroom and Me,” animated gif remixed by @iamTalkyTina

One time I got myself some glasses and moustache just like UNCLE Jim (@jimgroom, on Twitter) and snuck in beside him for a photobomb. Then, when he did a wink, I did one too! It was a fun time. That UNCLE Jim is a #TrueFriend, and you can see how he is doing the finger thing to say that we are tight, like two peas in a pod.

This GIF is like the one on Reverend Devilhorns, by D’Arcy Norman. But in this one, you can see me, too. Plus, I wink, just like UNCLE Jim.

This picture is a glasses one, for The Daily Create, tdc2022.

Follow My Drift

“Making Art from Stairs,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

The Daily Create, tdc2010, asks us to start with one word and end with another by chasing a phrase.  Chose to start with the word Stair and have ended with Art. Plus, I made an Art out of it using The Noun Project.  Plus, it is a bonus GIF.
