Things that I made for The Daily Create

On The Mean Word

“On The Mean Word,” public service announcement by @iamTalkyTina (B&W)

The Daily Create, tdc1994, submitted by @NomadWarMachine, says, Cartoon Yourself, and so I made myself into a Public Service Announcement comic strip cartoon, starring me! My Public Service Announcement has the topic of “On The Mean Word,” and it is me telling about how #TrueFriends don’t use The Mean Word.

To make this Art, I posed for some different pictures using my iPhone, and then I made myself into a cartoon using an app called Toon Camera. Once I had a bunch of pictures to tell the story, I put them into my computer and then built the comic strip using Comic Life. It is a nice program that does panels and speech bubbles and fancy comic letters and stuff.

After all of that, I opened it up in Photoshop and tried it out as an even more black & white one than the more monochromatic one that my original photos gave me. I liked the black and white one, so that is the one at the top. Down below, in case you want to see it, is the one with the original colours of my photos.

A Little Hieroglyphic Motivation

Tina’s Hieroglyphic Motivation,” image by @iamTalkyTina via mobilefish.com

Well, the days are counting down, and this one, for The Daily Create, tdc1993, means that there are only six more left in this 30-Day Challenge (because remember, it started on a 0 one and so it ends on a 9 one, like some of those math kinds that start counting with 0, the sillies) and so I thought folks might enjoy just a little bit of a motivation to urge them along. Mine came out in shades of grey, because, … you know!

In case you don’t know the answer to the secret code of hieroglyphs, you can use the table below to sort out my message.

“Hieroglypic Alphabet Index,” from mobilefish.com

If you do not yet have a tracking list page for your #30DayTDC challenge (here is mine: June 2017 30-Day Challenge), you might like to make one to help with your certification process. It is simple to do, just post a list with links to all of your 30 Creates so that our certification team can quickly confirm your eligibility. It could be either a post page or a page page (I like a page page because it doesn’t move around as much), and then you can update it easily as time marches on.

You might also like to do as I have done and put checkmarks on a calendar, like this:

So keep going everybody, and make a tracking list page if you can, as it will make it very easy for your to complete your final application for certification and speed up the process for you in getting your badge!

On the Planet, Creato!

“On the Planet, Creato!” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina (click picture for a super big GIF of it!)

Well, for The Daily Create, tdc1992, there was a new planet discovered for #ds106 peoples, and it was called the planet, Creato. Some of my #ds106 friends and I went there to check it out, and it is SO BEAUTIFUL. It is also a magical place, and the magical powers of creation effected each of us in different ways. Some of us got bigger, or smaller, some of us had big hands or if you watched pretty closely, a panting tongue or a waggy tail, but we all had fun exploring.

The friends that were along with me on the Planetary Expedition 106 were: Colin Dog, John Johnston, Dancing UNCLE @jimgroom, Spike, FelixADog, Bill Smith, and of course, me, @iamTalkyTina

Maybe you will visit the planet, Creato, and learn to Make Art with #TrueFriends, too!

With Tasty Results!

“With Tasty Results,” image by @iamTalkyTina using Flickr Lunes by @johnjohnston

Well, it was just too much fun making a Flickr Lunes one this morning and so when I saw a tweet that it wasn’t working, I had to check it out again and it was still working so I had another one done so I had to decide if I should throw out an Art or share it. It is never a fun time to throw out Art, so I am sharing it.

This is a second one of The Daily Create, tdc1991 to make a Flickr Lunes using the web tool that is made by my TrueFriend, John Johnston (@johnjohnston, on Twitter).

Make a CREATORIST Lune! Get Certified!

“Creatorist instruction Lune,” by @iamTalkyTina

So, today’s The Daily Create, tdc1991, says to make a Lune . A Lune is like a special haiku that is words instead of syllables, and 353 instead of 575.  That means it needs to be three words, five words, three words, instead of five syllables, seven syllables, five syllables.

My true friend @johnjohnston made a website called Flickr Lunes to help you make a loon. All you have to do is search a picture from the Internet that is already pre-approved for remix. Then you type in your words.  The you pick top, middle, or bottom, and then press the button to make it. Then you just download it and post it on your blog post.

Good luck to all the peoples! Only nine more to go (except for all the ones that you missed and you have to go back and do still!)   But if you need a little extra incentive, then here it is because when it is all done, there will be a special commemorative T-shirt that you can order that will have all of the certified peoples on it so that you can show off your CREATORIST certification to strangers.  Join the privilege of being in this special first cohort!

Keep on creating, bub!

The Rise and Fall of Stairless Society

“Album covers from my 1980’s pop-synth band,” by @iamTalkyTina

Today’s The Daily Create, tdc1990 asked us to remember a favourite band that was about “without something,” like the example Men Without Hats didn’t have hats.

It reminded me of one of my favourite pop-synth bands that I was in of the eighties which was called Stairless Society.  Over the course of our career arc, we released several albums which produced zero hit singles or didn’t even get on the charts, but still I thought we had a great concept and of course we had a funky beat.

We had fun touring with that first album, but along the way, some of the bandmates got discouraged, and by the time we re-grouped to cut a second album, we were down to two members, me and one other.

Unfortunately for some bad press that arose just during the release of our second album (an overeager reporter dug into my history and dredged up all the news related to the court cases back in 1963-65), we struggled to get gigs. After a few weeks, it was just me up there on the stage trying to run all the different instruments by myself as well as acting as the face of the band.

By the end of that tour, we (I) decided to give it one more go by releasing a retrospective album, but it went nowhere, and so I moved on to more exciting dreams.

But it was still a fun time!

I Made @JimGroom Say Uncle!

It was for The Daily Create, tdc1989, where it said show how to get respect with just Five Words. This was a challenge task that came from @hitRECord where @hitRECordJoe hasn’t applied to be a #TrueFriend yet.

I really liked the one by Terry Greene (@greeneterry, on Twitter) (who knows a friend of mine who doesn’t know who I am) because his respect with just five words was to use his TrueFriend  badge to say he was “official creature of the Internet.” Because he shared his badge for a writing one,  my picture is there right in the middle of the page of all the world to see!

Of course, my one was when I got respect from UNCLE @JimGroom after all that trouble with the #PretenderTina stuff and his #ArtLack. Fortunately for UNCLE @JimGroom, he has been keeping himself in line since then without too many reminders over each year, and so that was good for him.

It is always a good time when people give each other respect and are #TrueFriends. Apply for your badge today!

Plus, remember, for a limited time only (called June 2017) the window is open for @iamTalkyTina certification in Creatorist badge. You have to do all 30 of The Daily Create ones in the #30DayTDC challenge by @cogdog to be considered.

If I Could Be An Animal …

“If I Could Be an Animal …” image by @iamTalkyTina

I have not given it too much thought, but I was thinking this morning when I read The Daily Create, tdc1988, that If I Could Be an Animal, maybe I would like to be …… a giraffe!

I was just thinking that if I were this choice, I would get a different perspective on life, and that is always a good thing.

Plus, it would help me with camouflage for when I am on missions, because it is difficult to see a giraffe when they blend into the background like that.

Also, if I were in tall grass, I would be able to pop up and look around, which I will confess is something I have always wanted to do better.

I think it would also be a very fun thing to be able to stretch out those very long legs and run very fast in a loping, graceful gait, instead of some kind of manic running with short legs that some people might notice if they ever saw me (but they never do, just sayin’).

So maybe I would pick giraffe.

Bonus Create: FingerMan, Fotogenerated!

“FingerMan, Fotogenerated,” animatedGIF by @iamTalkyTina

After I explored today’s The Daily Create, tdc1987, I realized that this might be an excellent tool to use to capture the spirit of the Finger Man.

Sadly, Art mirrors Reality, as things just seem to get worse the longer this goes on.
