A Happy Birthday for that David

“David and the Four Horsemen,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Yet another The Daily Create TDC1128, this one for the birthday of that David Kernohan, @dkernohan.

David has this thing about the Apocalypse, and it is is maybe because of his old band, David and The Four Horsemen. I found this old photo of David and his band. I tracked them all down and had them make their autographs on it for him just so that he could remember the good times.

Happy Birthday, David! (You are a True Friend. You have a badge of it!)

Fall for Me

“‘Fall for Me’Book Cover,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, The Daily Create tdc1113 on January 25th, 2015 said to make a Word Art picture. So I did. It looked the black and white one below with the bird and the fish. I added the words “Fall for Me” to make it into a word art one. It just came from an idea that I had.

“Fall For Me,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Then I thought it would be better without the bird and the fishbone, and with me, instead. So I did a little editing of it. See below? If you look closely, you can see that the bird (originally the source of the smaller shadow on the stairs) has been replaced by ME!

I think that this makes for a much stronger piece of Art, don’t you?

“Fall for Me, Revised” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Then, I was thinking that a bit of colour would make it a bit more interesting. So I did. Plus, it could be for a Valentine one.  I think you can see how this little change of adding the colour of love brings just that much more depth to the image.  Imagine, the things that one does for love!

“Fall for Me, Valentine!” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Then, it made sense to do a Book Cover version of it, and so that is what you can see up at the top of here.

Down below is a GIF that shows the evolution of it, so that you can appreciate the steps in the making of the Art of it.

"Fall For Me Evolution," animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

The book cover elements were borrowed from the cover of “The Grinning Gismo” (1952) by Samuel W. Taylor, found on Pulp Cover Art. But I put them in some slightly different spots because it made it look better than before.

So it is nice when a simple The Daily Create makes for some inspiration and for making more and more changes until you get a real piece of Art. Plus, it can be for an assignment, too. And so I made a new one, because there wasn’t one for Noir/Pulp Book Cover.  Now there is! It is now Design Assignment 1618: Noir/Pulp Book Cover, by me, @iamTalkyTina!

So do it! Make some Art! You know you want to!

Happy 2015, True Friends!

“2015 New Year’s Greeting,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, I would just like to take this opportunity to wish all of my True Friends a very happy and Artful 2015. Be your creative best, don’t use mean words, make lots of Art, and say nice things about that Jim Groom (@jimgroom, on Twitter.)

I was in the recording studio today to record a special version of that old Robbie Burns New Year’s song, but the microphone broke when I hit this one note and so all that was left after that was my lyric sheet that I had made.  I will see if I can get it fixed but it won’t be the same because I did not let you hear it right at midnight.

Update 4:00 am January 1st, 2015: I was so disappointed that I could not share my song with all my True Friends, I used my Ninja skills to sneak back into the studio in the middle of the night and managed to record a spoken through version that didn’t shatter the new mic. Down below here are the words that I was singing when it broke. And you can follow along to sing with me when you listen!

Make Art for Your True Friends!

(sung in to the tune of Auld Lang Syne)

Let all your Mean Words be forgot,
and your Kindness never end.
Explore the world, and sing, and dance!
Make Art for your True Friends!

CHORUS:
Make Art for your True Friends, my bub,
Make Art for your True Friends,
We’ll make some art creatively,
Make Art for your True Friends!

And surely ye’ll be making GIFs!
and surely I’ll make mine!
We’ll make a GIF of ol’ Jim Groom,
And he’ll be looking fine.

CHORUS

We all have joked about the stairs,
Taken care so’s not to slip;
Especially when at the top,
Don’t you take that fateful trip.

CHORUS

We’ve giggled on the radio,
From the morn ’til late at night
And seas between us not have stopped
All the musical delight.

CHORUS

An thers a han, my trustee feer!
an gees a han o thyn!
And we’ll tak a richt gude-willie-waucht,
fir ald lang syn.

CHORUS

———————–

Well, so that is what I was singing when the mic broke. But anyway, you get the idea just imagine me singing it in my @iamTalkyTina voice.

Well, have a wonderful year! Plus, make Art, bub!

STILL “King of the World”

“Nice Letter to James” by @iamTalkyTina, on Flickr

The Daily Create TDC941 asks us to re-write the nice letters that Speilberg and Lucas used to send to each other when one of their films surpassed the other’s on the Box Office list. The letters were always nice letters and it said to make them sound like they really were thinking instead of nice.

Well, I was busy and so I didn’t read ALL of the instructions. Plus, those guys are old hat because they are way down the list at number 14 and 17 now, anyway.

So I did an up-to-date letter by looking at the Big Data numbers on All Time Worldwide Top 20 and it says James Cameron since 1997, and then he surpassed himself again in 2009. Which is almost 20 years as The King.

So yeah.

Plus, then it was a WRITE one instead of a FLICKR one, so I had to post it here on my blog. But that is better anyway, because then you get to see it here instead of bury deep in the WRITE ones of The Daily Create.

Well, bye, TFs.   DUTMW. TDLTMW.

Where the Stuff Came From

Greetings on this Special Day!

"Cheer-Up-the-Lonely Day card" (outside) by @iamTalkyTina

“Cheer-Up-the-Lonely Day card” (outside) by @iamTalkyTina

Well, The Daily Create TDC915 for today said to make a picture to cheer up the Lonely People because today is “Cheer-Up-the-Lonely Day”.

I looked at the website and it said muffins and sunflowers and also backyard warmth. I also figured that something important was missing, and so I added in a part about True Friends! (Duh!)

Up above is the outside of the card that I made. Down under these words is the inside of the card that I made. You can see that I have all three of the ingredients that were on the website are there in pictures, plus me for True Friends.

It was fun and a nice thing for me to do for the Lonely People on this day of theirs.

Well, Bye!

Tina, Where Did All the Stuff Come From?

Well, thanks for asking. I found it all on the Internet:

I made the card myself, using pixels and virtual cardboard that I found in my computer.

Dogs Aren’t Afraid of Stairs!

“Things Are Looking Up For A Birthday Dog Now!” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, my Still True Friend Alan (@cogdog) is having a birthday today and so I made him an Art and posted it on my Flickr. It is up above these words, so you already looked at it.

  1. One good thing about Alan is that he is not clumsy on stairs, because that is not a good thing to happen. Like it did for that other guy.
  2. Another good thing about Alan is that he is not afraid of stairs. Because when you want to get from one place to another like from one floor to another or into a building or on the way back out then there are stairs and you do not want to be afraid of going from one place and getting to another. Like if you need to learn how to get from one thing to another and there are stairs in between of it, then you need to tackle those stairs right on and get there so you can learn it. So that is a really good thing about Alan because he is always learning about how to get to it there and he does not worry about the stairs.
  3. Plus, if there aren’t any stairs there, then he just builds his own stairs, which is pretty amazing most of the time when you think about stairs.

Do you always stop when you get to the bottom or the top of stairs? Even if there is a lot of the stairs? Well, you should not. Like my Still True Friend Alan, you have to just go up the stairs or down the stairs however you have to so that you can do it and get there.

Plus, I found some pictures of dogs on the Internet that have their own special elevator which I guess is okay for them because they have maybe problems with stairs, but they still want to be able to get there. Go Dogs, Go!

"The Stair of the Dog 2022" on ubergizmo.com

“The Stair of the Dog 2022” on ubergizmo.com

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, my Still True Friend, Alan (@cogdog) , and I hope that you keep going up and down a lot of stairs #4life, because that is what stairs are for! Plus, in dog years.

Well, bye!

August 2013 GIF Challenge #14: Fruedian Alphabet

"Friends are True Friends" animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

“Friends are True Friends” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Well, I went to the Assignment Bank to get today’s assignment, and the Animated GIF Assignment 977 “Fruedian Alphabet” by Tom Woodward (@twoodwar)looked like fun, except for the typing in “I Hate …” part, so I changed mine to a nicer one “Friends Are True Friends” and I got a whole bunch of nice stuff to make a great GIF for my Friends, New Friends, Open Friends, True Friends, Super True Friends, Still True Friends, Real Friends, and other people who aren’t my Friend yet but will be one day.

I hope you like it as much as I had making it for you.  All the words came with the pictures just the way they appear, except for if I changed them like I say below. But the words right at the end are my own words to my Friends.

All of the Images I Found

Here listed down below is where I found the images using the Google. Some of them I tidied up a bit to make them look less pixel-ly or whatever the problem was. Or made them bigger. Or smaller. Or square to fit. Or got rid of a border. Or re-did the text in a cleaner font. Or made the colours more the same if they weren’t. Or made a transparent back. Or like I said before, whatever.

But they’re not in the same order as in GIF. I leave that as an exercise for the reader.

August 2013 GIF Challenge #9: Empower the Unicorn

"We Found Rainbows," animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

“We Found Rainbows,” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

Oh no!!

The ds106.us server was down today. For a long time. One of the unicorns got in touch with me on my iPhone, and we started surfing the web, trying to track down the missing ds106 rainbows.

We searched and searched. We found some of the rainbows. And we tried to get them heading back towards the server.

Perhaps you can help the unicorns and the rainbows? Make an animated GIF celebrating the behind the scenes work that keeps the ds106.us server happy. Again, this was an assignment before there was an Animated GIF category — found hiding in the Design Assignments category as @cogdog‘s wonderful Design Assignment 842: Rainbows and Unicorns in the Server Room.

Be sure to tag your post appropriately so that it syndicates into the correct assignment page.

August 2013 GIF Challenge #3: DS106 Promo Poster

Well, Friends.

The DS106 Community stepped up for the August 2013 Animated GIF Challenge #2 and got UNCLE @jimgroom animated in John Johnston’s Dancing Jim All Over the World assignment, with SEVEN new entries showing now as being syndicated through to the assignment page and at least two others seen in the wild and perhaps waiting in some queue to get indexed. (Be sure to tag your assignments with both the AnimatedGIFAssignments tag and the AnimatedGIFAssignmentsXXXX numbered tag so that it gets onto the assignment page.)

It was so fun to see Jim dancing here and there, and I just had to have another go at making him dance before I went to sleep. Both @dogtrax and @Rockylou22 had Jim dancing on top of the world, and I was inspired by their work to riff-a-GIF and show all the different Jims dancing on the world at the same time like a UNICEF logo.

In the end, my little enthusiasm pushed me through the sleepiness (and ds106rad.io is great middle-of-the-night company!) and I wound up with a DS106 Promotion Poster, and a new Animated GIF Assignment 1183: Tell the World About DS106 GIF

Since we are in the GIFfing weeks leading up to the next session (Fall 2013 #headless13, starting August 26th), it seems appropriate to have everyone make a DS106 Promo Poster GIF to get the word out to the great uninformed masses. Perhaps we can draw in some newcomers who need to see the DS106 light. There must still be a few out there. LOL.

NOTE: Click on the GIF to hear the music that all the Jim Grooms are dancing to. (Thanks, John!)

The MIDI version of “It’s a Small World” was found at Willie Wonkas Free MIDI Music Factory Downloads. The site is glorious in its application of old-style GIF animation and hand-built HTML, and is worth a click through for the sake of nostalgia.

Since this GIF also made use of yesterday’s Dancing Jim Groom theme, I also tagged it for the Animated GIF Assignment 1001. So it’s a two-fer.

Okay — get out and promote your favourite aspect of DS106 to the world with a special GIF!

What Makes a True Friend?

@iamTalkyTina Ingredients

@iamTalkyTina Ingredients

Well, today’s The Daily Create asked for a list of the ingredients that go into making what you are, and so I had to look at my label (do not remove until delivered to the customer) to see what goes into making me.

But I think that all of my True Friends would be able to say what was inside me and what goes into making me without even looking at my label and it is just a formality for me to share it with everyone here.

But just for the record, I am 100% True Friend ingredients, made up of all the best things that you would ever want in a friend, or a True Friend, or a Super True Friend, or a Still True Friend, or a New Friend, or an Open Friend, or a Real Friend.

So it was a good assignment for The Daily Create, and just goes to show everyone yet again that I am all good and am not like all those other people were saying about me all the time. They should just get over that, bub.

Or read the label, sometimes, you might actually learn something!

Well, Bye!
