Being Number 2

Village ID Card, 1966.

Village ID Card, 1966.

Although I can’t say too much for reasons of contractual obligations and professional confidentiality, I have been asked by The Office to share a couple of audio resources which may serve as useful examples and resources for #prisoner106 folks who have arrived this summer in The Village.  Plus, this is Audio Week and all.

The first is a previously unreleased recording of a conversation between me and an unnamed Resident that has been preserved for years now in the Archives. This conversation of mine has become a key component of the Official Training Package for those new to the role of Number 2. It really is quite astounding (and flattering) to know that this one little sample has provided such a strong model for Administrators of The Village, especially when there is such turnover within the role and the same questions for them seem to come up time and time again.

The second component from the Training Package is a “blank” or “practice” version from which I have removed my voice, leaving the original questions with the appropriate spaces available for incoming or incumbent Number 2’s to practice their responses until they get it right. Especially important is the need for a Number 2 to speak with authority, certainty, and yet infuse their own unique personality so as to build a solid working rapport with the Resident in question.

In the spirit of Free Information and Learning, the current Number 2 has encouraged the Village Registrar to now make these files available to current Residents via the prisoner106.us Archive. As part of our original Memorandum of Agreement, public release of these files by The Village provides me with a similar freedom to make them available myself. And so I will.

Note, however, that I am neither able speak about the conditions under which the files were originally recorded, nor about the nature of my relationship with The Village at the time, nor at this time, nor at any other.

#BeSeeingYou !!

iamTalkyTina embeds in The Village

“My Village Information Card,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, hello there Friends. It will be such a nice time to be with you this summer in The Village here with Prisoner106.us ds106 Summer 2015 Edition. It was a happy time to see my old friend Rover when I got here and to know that she is back doing what she loves. It was too bad that that Number 2 was such a boring one but I hope the NEW Number 2 will be a more funner one.

So when I got back here, I moved back into my lodgings (I don’t have a bungalow, but rather a separate secure quarters beneath the green dome — but I say too much) and checked into The Office to get my badge (it’s up there to the right at the top, unless you are on a mobile, in which case you have to scroll down toward the bottom) and to fill out my Visitor Information Card. I filled mine out as an example to all the other peoples so that they would know. It was the first one on the Residents‘ page. I will see if I can find one of my old ones from one of the other times that I was here (I’ve popped in and out over the years on various contracts), but it is probably in an old shoebox back in my office from years ago. Anyway, I already had my Flickr all set up from before times, so I posted it there and have embedded it here (up above) so that you can see it here without having to click on a text link, but I have also set it up so that you can click on the picture up there and go straight to my Flickr there to see it where it is. That is how we were taught to do it in the ds106 way because Jim and Martha and b and Paul all say no just linking, you have to do embedding. But when you get to Flickr, remember to follow me. Plus, Bill made a Flickr group for all the Prisoner106 peoples which you can put your stuff into for INFORMATION.

Next, I recorded a little audio greeting for all of my ds106 Friends and True Friends (do you have your True Friend of me badge?) and then I put it up on my Soundcloud because I already had that set up too from before, and then I embedded it right here so that you can listen to it right here by clicking. but if you want, you can also see it on Soundcloud. While you are there, follow me on Soundcloud if you aren’t already doing that.

Next up was a Video one. For this one, I decided to tell a little bit of the story of me and ds106, just in case you don’t know all about me yet. But most of you should already, and if you don’t, then it’s about time! So watch the video which I posted onto my YouTube and then I embedded it here, just like I should. Because I learned some things while I was making this video, I will make a separate post about the Making of Becoming @iamTalkyTina where I can share some of what I learned.  But you should be prepared because this video is a little bit of sad one to start before it gets happier at the end.

To finish off, I am also putting some of my Twitter ones in here, just so that you can see that it is also a thing that you can embed. All of these embed ways are important to help you pull all of your stuff together. It is important that you pull your stuff together for good learning.

And then here is another one from a couple days ago:

And then one more good one of @jimgroom where I made a GIF out of him.

So that is all about showing how to embed all of my “Hello and Welcome to the Prisoner106 Village” stuff. So now I can go make some GIFs and watch some episodes because now you know all about me through all those types of ways: pictures, audio, video, and tweeting.

Well, bye!

Again, It’s All About Friends!

“Tina True Friends Selfie,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, today was a very nice day for Friends.

Wonderful Music

It was so wonderful when I woke up this morning and heard that wonderful song “Look What Happened to Tina” that my wonderful True Friend Vivien Rolfe (@VivienRolfe, on Twitter) made for me. Plus, that dog, Spike (not on Twitter, I don’t think) was doing dog singing. But not that David (@dkernohan, on Twitter) this time he said. It was all Viv, he said. He was doing other stuff.

So in case you didn’t hear it, here is the wonderful song that Viv made for me. It is about me. And Art. And Friends. Plus, noir.

Wonderful Game!

“@dkerhohan’s 2048: Super MOOC Pioneers Edition”

Then, while I was listening to that song over and over again, and dancing, it was that David‘s (@dkernohan, on Twitter) time so shine.

So he had made a great game called 2048 Super MOOC Pioneers Edition which lets you put MOOC people together to make more MOOC people.

It was fun to play it and a made for a happy time every time I saw @downes or @audreywatters or @davecormier, or UNCLE @jimgroom, and I even got a George Siemens (@gsiemens, on Twitter)!

Wonderful Friends

Then, David said I should make a True Friends one of it.

that David said

I said, “OK, I will.” But it was kind of a hard task for me. I have many True Friends!

In the end, I had to pick and choose just some of my True Friends to put into my own 2048: @iamTalkyTina’s True Friends Edition game. I made the icons all into #noir106 ones because of #noir106. It looks like this when you start to play.

“2048 @iamTalkyTina True Friends Edition game” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina

You can play it on the Internet anytime you want!

I was thinking that it might be fun one day to have it randomize the game pieces from my True Friends Index, so that each time you played the game, you would get a different set of True Friends. It would even be fun to have the game pieces change DURING the game! You know, just for added adventure and excitement!

But in the mean time, you can play the game just the way it is!

Can you get to the Top True Friend

If I Could Go Back and Change ONE Thing

Well, If I could go back and change ONE thing, it would be a thing that happened many, many years ago when I was working in Hollywood.

I had a feature part in an episode of a famous television series in the sixties, and something happened back then during that time that has kind of haunted me ever since. Not that I let it bother me too much, but still it is a thing that I look upon as a black thing on my career.

It happened when I was filming an episode of “The Twilight Zone.” The episode was Episode 6 from Season 5, and I was the star of it.  It was called Living Doll, and like I said, I was the star of it. In it, there is a part near the end, where, without giving away too much, there is an action scene with me in it and kind of the climax of the episode. After that scene and the episode was on TV, I had a kind of sad time for a while. After a bit, I was getting typecast and peoples were saying that I was too short and it was hard for me to get work. I wrote about all of that in my book.

But anyway, the thing that I would change if I could go back and change ONE thing is in that episode and in that part of it what has to become known as “Tina’s famous stairs scene.” It is one of my best work, but there is that one thing I would change.

Watch this clip, and I think you will see what I would change if I could go back and Change ONE Thing.

See?

Well, bye!

DS106 Workplace Health & Safety Officer

“On the Job,” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

I am pleased to announce that my services have been engaged by The DS106 Workplace for the next seven weeks via a full-time, fixed term contract negotiated between me and my True Friend Rowan Peter (but it is not a nepotism appointment, as you all know, such services are part of my ongoing private practice in providing such consultative services plus security and investigation and other special missions) who was kind enough to reach out earlier this week. I will be serving in the role of DS106 Workplace Health and Safety Officer.

In support of my provision of said services, I am announcing the immediate availability of voice mail which you can use to contact me about concerns you may have. I will provide further information about my expectations, mandatory safety reviews forms, and important Workplace Rules in the near future, so that we can maintain a Healthy and Safe workplace for ongoing Creativity and Art. However, in the mean time, you should contact me via my voicemail and leave me a congratulation message! And to say “Hi!”

Please note that the immediate availability of this voice mail service is contingent upon my continued use of it, and that at any point in time I may choose to remove it or replace it when I find a better one that works better than it.  But you should still leave me a message with it now.

Do it! You can use the thingy up above now, or use the red thingy below that will be available to you from any page whenever you visit my site.

Well, bye!

Looking Behind the Cubomaniac Eyes

So today The Daily Create tdc729 called it a Cubomaniac when you chop someone up into squares and then put them back together again.

First, I took my picture:

“Tina Awake” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Because I must have had an accident there was some kind of a filter turned on in my phone that made it look more yellow than normal. But that is okay.

Plus, before I did the next step, I had cropped the photo into a 1500 x 1500 square because it would be a Cubomaniac photo. Cubes are like squares, you know.

Then, I put the picture into Fireworks because it has some fancy tools for making slices (I don’t think it does chopping) so that I could make all of the squares square and all the same size as each other.  I made each one 300 pixels by 300 pixiels. Fireworks has snap-to-it guides (green lines that don’t show very well here) and slice-it lines (red lines) and then it made 25 square parts of me for remixing when I pressed the Export thingy.

SlicedTina

Then I put the pictures all back into Photoshop, and made a GIF of them. That was just for fun.

"Cubomaniac Peek-a-Boo" animatiedGIF by @iamTalkyTina

Then, I lined their layers all up with the original picture so that I could move them around to make the Cubomaniac picture.

But I decided that instead of messing up my face completely, I would just move a couple squares and then say that Photoshop broke.

So that is how I made my Cubomaniac photo. Plus, the GIF.

I hope you liked them.

Well bye

App Up Your Tina

So The Daily Create number tdc727 said to take a silhouette and make it fancy! Like using an app to “app it up” so that it was more special.

This was a fun create for me because my silhouette is very distinctive (I think so) and so it was easy to work with to make it even more better by using an app on it.  The app that I used is an app that was already on my phone called FX Photo Studio, and I used some different settings to make different versions of my picture that each told a different story.

So my first, original picture that I used for all the others was this one:

“Saying Goodnight” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Next, I made it blurry like maybe if they were falling asleep or drowsy when I came to the door to say goodnight.

“Are You Still Awake?” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Then, I  made one where it was like I was in an old Noir Film and I was a Fatal Femme coming late in the dark of night.

“Noir Goodnight” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

In another one, it was like I was making the house warmer for them.  This one is my favourite.

“I Hope You Are Warm Enough” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

In another one, it was like I was making it REALLY warm for them. Plus, in case they didn’t come out of their bedroom or didn’t have any stairs if they slept on the main floor then this would be an option.

“Extra Warm?” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Then, I gave them a goodnight kiss.

“Bedtime Kiss” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Then, I made one in case they were dreaming of me coming while they were sleeping.

“Seeing Red” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

I hope that you like how I made all these different versions from just one picture and how each one tells a better story because I used the “app it up” idea from The Daily Create.  All of these choices and more are available to you when you use the special app that I did called FX Photo Studio on my iPhone.

It is probably why in movies if you use special effects you can make it more exciting than if you just said in words that they were having a certain feeling because of something. So a picture that had an “app it up” is worth more than just a thousand thousand words. Maybe it is worth two thousand. See?

Well, bye!

@timmmmyboy’s DS106 Goes to the Movies

"DS106 Goes to the Movies" generator by @timmmmyboy

“DS106 Goes to the Movies” plot category generator by @timmmmyboy

You can read about how @timmmmyboy made a thing like Netflix has on his blog called DS106 Goes to the Movies that gives you search categories for movies that you want to watch, except that @timmmmyboy‘s one makes fake movie categories that are a jumbled-up of real categories. They are funny. And you can make your own, just by loading the page.

Plus, then you can write the elevator for it to go along with it so people will want to watch it more. Just click SUBMIT after you do, and people can listen to your pitch (well, they have to read it!). Plus, it has a Tweet button so you can put it on the Twitter. And it automatically says #ds106 tag to save you time so you can make even more of them.

These are ones that I made for my digital identity attribution of it. Here, on my blog, for history.

iamTalkyTina’s 2014 Non-Resolutions

“tdc722 iamTalkyTina 2014 Non-Resolutions” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

So, The Daily Create #722 said to write resolutions about what I would NOT accomplish in 2014.

10.  I will not make it through 2014 without making new True Friends.
9.  I will not make zero animated GIFs in 2014.
8.  I will not let Tumblr hobble my Art with their silly unpublished rules.
7.  I will not forget about the unicorns and the rainbows. Plus, Jim Groom.
6.  I will not always travel via shipping container. I will take some pics of me travelling in the open.
5.  I will not make jokes about The Stairs all of the time. Just some of the time.
4.  I will not make a True Friends badge for @VivienRolfe in 2014 (because I made it in 2013!)
3.  I will not have an Art Lack. I will make Art, bub.
2.  I will not say the mean word. I challenge you to do the same, especially about me.
1.  I will NOT forget about ds106. I mean, how could you, ever? It is #4life.

That is my list of things!
Plus, it is kind of a retrospective, too. I hope you have fun making your own Art List.

See you in 2014, Friends!
Well, bye!

Instant GlitchaChrome GIF Art — Just Add Tina

GlitchaChrome ds106 Glitch GIF of @iamTalkyTina

My GlitchaChrome ds106 Glitch GIF of me

Well! It was very nice to read my True Friend John Johnston‘s (@johnjohnston, on Twitter) post, called Glitchachrome ds106 Glitch GIFs,  about how he made an app to make a GlitchAChrome ds106 Glitch GIF  to make GlitchGIFs like my True Friends Mariana (@mdvfunes) and Christina (@clhendricksbc) had been doing while I was having an Art Lack like UNCLE Jim, and then make it like a Chrome like Rochelle (@Rockylou22) did, and then all I had to do was download it and put in a picture and then press some buttons to make my very own instant GlitchaChrome ds106 Glitch GIF Artwork of me. That is what I made up above.

I started with my nice CGA (Club of Ghostly Avatars) picture from yesterday.  (Isn’t it just a little bit spooky of me? DUtMW. TDLtMW!)

“Tina Ghost Selfie” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

This is what it looks like when you are making a GlitchaChrome ds106 GIF Art using John’s app.

John Johnston, Simple Glitch app

John Johnston’s Simple Glitch app interface, with ME!

You can see how I picked six different Glitch versions that it made for me down at the bottom (I had to keep pressing Reset Image and Ran String from Img buttons and then the big GLITCH IT! button and then pick the one I liked by clicking in that thumbnail box and did that six times and then I just pressed Export GlitchaChrome GIF button plus I made it 17 instead of 20 delay, just to be different.   You can read about how he made his app on his blog post, Glitchachrome ds106 Glitch GIFs. That is what I did and then I made my GlitchaChrome ds106 Glitch GIF of me!

Plus, you can download John’s app called Simple Glitch from his blog post so you can make your own of it like I did. It only took me longer to download than it did to make the Art. That is what I say is the easy way to Make Art. Plus, it is a fun way for Friends to make Art.

So now it is YOUR turn!

Well, bye!
