It’s Another Beautiful Day, Here in The Village!!

A little bird told me that Week Two for #prisoner106 is going to be Audio Week, and that Number 2 wants folks to make a lot of nice Good Morning Announcement Messages to play on the loudspeakers every morning when people are getting up and doing their ablutions and toast and stuff.  So I decided that it would be a nice thing to make one for everyone to hear. Because of my voice and all.

There are lots of examples of them in the episodes. Look for the parts where Number Six tips his head sideways and then the picture shows one of those little metal boxes (like up above in my GIF) and then a voice comes out of nowhere and says nice things.

Anyway, now that you have seen my GIF, you can listen to my first Good Morning Message.

Isn’t it a nice one? I used that Party Dress song in the background like I found in one of the episodes using Shazam on my iPhone. That app sure is a wonder and lets you find sounds so quickly, especially in a nice clean format to put into an audio project without any of the old hiss from the 1960s and film scratches.

Because of my advance information, this will be an example for a new assignment that Number 2 asked me to make called Assignment 1745: Good Morning Message for The Village. When you do it, you can tag it with AudioAssignments, and AudioAssignments1745 so that it will link into the ds106 Assignment Bank example for that assignment.

Songs for True Friends

“What DS106 Music Means to Me” animated GIF by @iamTalkyTina based on this image

This is my The Daily Create for today, tdc1161 which says, “Write a poem about how music changed your life.” (pausing as I type — oh, a poem? oh well I already posted this but when I try to link to my specific post, it is broken like 404, what’s up with that, @cogdog?)  So here it is on my blog, plus with a GIF and embedded soundcloud ones.

Well, it is always nice when True Friends make songs. Because songs are a kind of music, but with words so you can understand why Friends are Important.

Like one time I wrote a song called “Tina Made Groom” after he was trash talking me and I needed to set the record straight.

Or another time, when I wrote a song called “Tina Don’t Like the Mean Word” after that Savvy man Ben kept using the Mean Word even after I was trying to be nice.

Another time, when it was New Years, I made a special version of the New Year’s Song called “Make Art for Your True Friends, My Bub!” that was a really nice thing for me to do.

But then, my True Friend Vivien made a wonderful song, just for me, called “Look What Happened to Tina” that was just such a fantastic piece of music that it almost made me cry. But not really, I am tough.

And then, just when I thought it wouldn’t get any nicer, my True Friends Vivien and that David did another song for me called “GIFfing is Without You” that made me want to sing along all day and play my double-bass. That remix is in the studio now, awaiting some final vocal embellishments.

I could go on an on about how nice it is that music makes you feel. But it is about making vibrations that other peoples can feel, plus when they make vibrations, you feel them too. Plus, at the same time it is even better. Like, LIVE.

So music is a kind of Art, and that is what we like to make. So Make some Art, bub.

And Make Some Music Art, Bub, too!

Kenny’s Carpets, Caskets, and Cars

In preparation for our upcoming #ds106radio #noir106 radio show about Fatal Femmes, I managed to get three old commercials I did way back in the day converted from analogue to digital files so that I could share them with our team.

The commercials were done for an old friend, Kenny, who ran a wonderful service agency known fondly as Kenny’s Carpets, Caskets, and Cars.

The files are now posted to my Soundcloud, and are embedded here for your listening enjoyment and pleasure.

Sadly, Kenny met an untimely demise not too long after I moved away. Fortunately, he had left his own brown envelope in his safe, and things were dealt with just as he would have wanted.

Again, It’s All About Friends!

“Tina True Friends Selfie,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, today was a very nice day for Friends.

Wonderful Music

It was so wonderful when I woke up this morning and heard that wonderful song “Look What Happened to Tina” that my wonderful True Friend Vivien Rolfe (@VivienRolfe, on Twitter) made for me. Plus, that dog, Spike (not on Twitter, I don’t think) was doing dog singing. But not that David (@dkernohan, on Twitter) this time he said. It was all Viv, he said. He was doing other stuff.

So in case you didn’t hear it, here is the wonderful song that Viv made for me. It is about me. And Art. And Friends. Plus, noir.

Wonderful Game!

“@dkerhohan’s 2048: Super MOOC Pioneers Edition”

Then, while I was listening to that song over and over again, and dancing, it was that David‘s (@dkernohan, on Twitter) time so shine.

So he had made a great game called 2048 Super MOOC Pioneers Edition which lets you put MOOC people together to make more MOOC people.

It was fun to play it and a made for a happy time every time I saw @downes or @audreywatters or @davecormier, or UNCLE @jimgroom, and I even got a George Siemens (@gsiemens, on Twitter)!

Wonderful Friends

Then, David said I should make a True Friends one of it.

that David said

I said, “OK, I will.” But it was kind of a hard task for me. I have many True Friends!

In the end, I had to pick and choose just some of my True Friends to put into my own 2048: @iamTalkyTina’s True Friends Edition game. I made the icons all into #noir106 ones because of #noir106. It looks like this when you start to play.

You can play it on the Internet anytime you want!

I was thinking that it might be fun one day to have it randomize the game pieces from my True Friends Index, so that each time you played the game, you would get a different set of True Friends. It would even be fun to have the game pieces change DURING the game! You know, just for added adventure and excitement!

But in the mean time, you can play the game just the way it is!

Can you get to the Top True Friend

Tina is Taxed While Tackling the Script

Well! I have been having a bit of an Art Lack recently, but I think that it will be done soon and I will be back to my usual self, making Art on a more regular basis.

I have been trying to find time to work on our group radio play, Shrinking the Big Questions with Mariana, Christine, Karen, and Jess. I won’t say too much about our show now, except to say that it is about Shrinking the Big Questions.

I know that I am a bit rusty at making Art because I had a really difficult time getting my microphone to work right AND I had a rough time reading my script that was written for me. Listen to this difficult time that I had. It is an outtake or a blooper:

Would you believe that even after all that mumbling, jumbling, I still managed to get the line not quite right in my final recording? When the show comes out next week you can listen to when I say this part and hear how I still had a problem.

Oh well, what is it that they say about get back on the horse and then you can find water so he can have a drink? Or something like that?

Plus, I was doing some of my recording in the back of a truck inside a Shipping Container when I was going home from The Big Meet-Up with Jim Groom. But I will write about that soon. (with pictures!)

Well, bye!

My First #ds106radio Futzcast

Well, the other day when people were in a Google Hangout talking about going on #ds106radio jamathon, I was there but I couldn’t get my mic to work and so I was just looking at everybody on the screen. So it was fun but not as much as if I was talking.

So tonight I got my mic working and I said to myself that I would try out going on #ds106radio and play a song for my Friends and my mic worked okay and I could hear my music and I was dancing but the music didn’t go on the radio. So I tried to fix it but all that came out was my voice.

So it was a typical #ds106radio Futzcast but next time maybe you will hear both my voice and my music.

Well, bye!

tdc617 What is Philosophy?

Well, Friends, for the The Daily Create for September 16th tdc617 my True Friend Bryan Jackson (bryanjack) asks “What is Philosophy to you?” and then says we should make our own audio definition in 30 seconds or less. So I did! Except for the 30 seconds or less part. But it IS a big question, after all! So I don’t mind, and you shouldn’t either, if you know what is good for you!

Well, Friends, when I ask myself the question “What is Philosophy?” or when someone else asks me the question “What is Philosophy?” then I think about Friends. And I think, “What would my Friends say if I asked them the question “What is Philosophy?” And then I think that they would say it is about Friends, and about being a good Friend, and about not saying the Mean Word about me, and about being nice. And about making Friends, questions like “How do you make a True Friend?” and “What makes a True Friend true?” and “Why do some people pick on other people in the World?” and “What is the meaning of True Friends, and Life.” Philosophy is about asking the big questions. (beat) And Friends.

I was very happy to be listening to a song called “Dare My Light” by Kämmerer while I made my little recording. It is a nice song that I found on Jamendo.com that is shared for all to listen to CC BY-SA 3.0 and as all my True Friends know, sharing nice things is a nice thing.

So after listening to my recording, you will have the answer to the question, “What is Philosophy?”

Well, bye!

Some Advice for My Newest Friends

Hello there!

My True Friend @cogdog said that I should use my dollish ways (he’s such a cut up, that was just a role I played once on TV years ago in 1963 on Mr. Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone show episode called Living Doll, I had the title role) and help my new friends to update their blogs and such.

So here is my post for you. I call it

iamTalkyTina’s ds106 Hints for My New Friends on ds106!!

1. In your WordPress blog, where it says “Hello World,” change it to something different like “My first blog post,” or “Starting ds106.” That way it will be original and not the same as all the others.  Maybe you can think up something even more original than my good suggestions.

2. Up at the top underneath it will probably say something like “Just another ds106 blog site” or something that says “Just another … <something>.”  It always says that on peoples’ blogs and it’s not very original so change it into something more catchy and fascinating that will make people want to read more. Try something that expresses your personality and keeps our attention. AND up at the top above where it says something like “Just another ds106 blog site” or whatever, make sure it says something different from “MY BLOG.” That is right out. Be your own person and use a title that will set you apart from all the other blogs. Do it now.

3. Plus, if you have made your Twitter account, be sure to put on a picture of something. If you are still a new egg then stop it!, it doesn’t tell us who you are or so and if you put your face on there then people can see who you are. Some people put on a symbol. That makes you more friendly. Friends are important.  Eggs are not very important.

4. And put your picture and a name that we can call you on your blog, too, by the way. Or something interesting. Because that is more interesting and tells us more about you than just “My blog” or “My ds106 blog.”  Be original and be creative and let your light shine. You can also make a nice “About” page that tells us a bit “about” who you are, what your interests are. You know, so we learn about you as a person, and not just a student.

5. Be sure to make lots of friends with other people in ds106. Friends are the most important thing and they will help you and be your friend when times are tough. Like if you forget to do an assignment until the last minute (don’t do that, Mr. Jim Groom warned you, didn’t he?) then your friends will be there to say something like, “Well, you should have done it sooner, ” or “Didn’t you hear Jim Groom when he said to not leave it until the last minute?” or “I will be a true friend and smack you up along side your head this time if you want so that you won’t do this again next time.” See? Friends are very helpful and kind.

6. Also, this goes back up to number 3 where I told you what to do about Twitter. I forgot to say to also put your blog address on your Twitter page, and put your Twitter name on your blog, and be sure to tweet out whenever you make a new post on your blog. All of these things go together to help your Friends read your work. So do that.

So there!

I hope that these helpful tips will get you going! Please remember, I am iamTalkyTina. You can follow me on Twitter at @iamTalkyTina. My blog is here at iamTalkyTina.com. I made a Flickr account for ds106 and my Flickr username is iamTalkyTina. I have a Soundcloud account and my username is iamTalkyTina. I made a YouTube account and my username is iamTalkyTina. I made a gravitar account and my name is iamTalkyTina. I made a WordPress account so that I can comment on WordPress blogs and my username is iamTalkyTina.  I probably have a few other accounts that I am not remembering right now, but my username for them is iamTalkyTina, because iamTalkyTina !!

I hope you enjoyed reading my advice to you. ds106 is #4ever — and is only #4life if you die first.
