Don’t You Forget About Me, True Friend!

I do not know what is bothering my True Friend @cogdog. He has used the Mean Word a lot about me the last few days (he changed the title of my poem, putting the Mean Word in twice!! three!!! FOUR!!!! times ), and he went into a desert pit to try and get some exorcise and says he threw me in a river chasm (but that is NOT true, I am right here and am just fine) and he said that that he doesn’t want to hear me any more. But that is just silly.

He made a picture about remembering me and I looked at it and if HE REALLY looks at it then he will NEVER FORGET ABOUT ME, TRUE FRIEND!

I am updating Alan’s badge to “STILL TRUE” friend status. Because even if he is going through a tough time and feeling different about me right now (and saying the Mean Word all the time), I am still a True Friend to him, and he can still be a True Friend to me again.

I have posted TWO comments in response to @cogdog’s claim that I went swimming in the Colorado river and he did NOT try to save me, but he has not approved the comments yet.  As I feel that they share important information of public record, I am providing them here while he get’s his head on straight.

Real Friends are Important !!

It is important to have Friends. And it is important to know that you can count on them. While some people may say they are friends, or maybe jump through some hoops just to get to be recognized as a certain kind of Friend, we always need to keep in mind the importance of Real Friends.

I had an opportunity to ask a Real Friend for help yesterday. While other people (who don’t seem to want to be ANY KIND of friend and get themselves crossed off the list) were stranded at airports with no means to travel, I was able to continue on my merry way, because of Friends. And the view from the cockpit is waaaaay better than YOUR cramped little-window view from YOUR seat in coach!

At one time, I worked in a not-so-glamourous job helping to pack freight. I had a knack for optimizing the packing density in cargo containers. Somehow I was always able to find extra spaces where we could fit some extra shipments and get them on their way even faster. I made a lot of bonuses that way, and got quite a nest egg set aside for retirement as a result.

But even more important than the money and the bonuses was that the people I worked with were the best, and I made a lot of Real Friends, friends who looked out for me and made sure that I was there with them at the end of the shift. (Although it was kind of funny that one time they got distracted by that last-minute load-on and I got the free trip to Mumbai.) But it was the Friendships that made that job such a joy!

When I got home last night I dug up the advert that was made when I was working out of Memphis years ago. It’s nice to see the faces of my friends and remember those good times.

Some of my friends (Christina and Melanie) were wondering about me on the Twitter last night and this morning. They hadn’t heard from me for a while and were starting to get worried.

Everybody needs to know that despite my size, I am a big girl now and certainly I know how to take care of myself. You don’t need to be worried about that. I learned how to do that long ago.

I also learned that sometimes it helps to travel incognito, and quietly, if you know what I mean. Some times people don’t even know that I am right there. Which can come in handy at times. But if I want you to know that I am there, you will know!

I am not sure, however, that my True Friend @scottlo got my message about meeting him at the beach. I saw him talking into his phone, but I know that sometimes that stops his Twitter from working, and so he maybe didn’t know that I was there to see him. I tried waving at him when he took this picture, but he didn’t wave back, so I don’t think he saw me. I guess sometimes it helps to let your friends know you are coming for a visit in advance.

Anyway, even though I didn’t get to see @scottlo up close, and I had to catch my flight back home before we could meet, it was nice to be at the beach.

So now you know where I was.

I am fine! Thank you for thinking about me and asking on the Twitter. I have been busy with some little projects that are fun for me.

Like this. Here is another challenge!! Can you guess which episode this is? And the season? And the episode number? And who was the “star” of this episode?

Watching my Friends

I woke up in the middle of the night was feeling a little peckish. So I went to the kitchen and got myself a knife to cut myself some apple slices.

Then, I took a look on The Daily Create tdc511 for Sunday, June 2nd where the assignment was about me and Friends. It said, “@IamTalkyTina wants to be everyone’s friend. Make a photo that represents that kind of friendship.” That was a nice idea.

It was so nice to see all of the pictures that my Friends made for me yesterday about Friends for The Daily Create! It was nice to have my Friends thinking about me, and about Friends. I liked them all very much because there were a LOT of different nice faces of lots of Friends (who kind of looked like dolls, which is only a role that I played on TV!), or things where I was bigger than the others and was like a princess (although it said King), or lots of sister cheerleaders with laundry, or how was going to have 1000 friends (even though I only need 106 Friends) or listening to music on #ds106radio with my True Friend Christina who is in Australia, and Mr. Rogers, and an owl, and something that @cogdog made a picture of but I didn’t understand it but it was still a nice thing for him to think about. Those were all nice pictures. And I am still watching for a picture from Sean who spelled SCARY thinking I wouldn’t notice but I did and so I am really watching him now, just like the monster lady (she says Wazowski) and Jim Groom is watching him too.

Hospitality Suite for Talky Tina

He calls this his “Hospitality Suite for Talky Tina” but I call it for what it is, a stupid JAIL ROOM

But one picture I didn’t like. Even though he said nice words, one person (who can remain nameless because I have savvy and have learned how to avoid going through all those court things again) made a picture that I didn’t like because he said it was a special room for me at his house but it was really a JAIL ROOM. What kind of friend makes another Friend stay in a JAIL ROOM. I did not think it was a very friend like. He said hospitality, but I think he better watch it bub or he will need a hospital-ity room just for himself.

Well, except for that one, it was a very nice thing for Friends to do.

Again, I found my icons on thenounproject.com where I have an account and so the SVG files are free.

I used icons by these people, but I won’t say what the icons are called because that takes away all the guessing fun!!!

Can you guess my challenge? I hope it is not too hard for you! Please put your answers in the comments below. If you are right, I will say “You Got It!” but I will remove your answer so it does not give away the fun for my other friends.  Remember, to get ALL of the POINTS, you need to correctly say the Season, the Episode, the Title, and who was the star of the episode.

Winners will be happier for having played along with my challenge. See yesterday’s One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone challenge. Can you figure out BOTH of them for double points?

Hello, Friends!  (New Friends, True Friends, and Open Friends — and any other friends, too!)

I think it would be fun to do the Design Assignment 358: One Story / Four Icon assignment, but with episodes from The Twilight Zone, instead of movies.  Don’t you think that would be fun?

Can you tell what episode of The Twilight Zone this is? You have to say the season, the episode, AND the title of the episode, AND who was the star of the episode to get all the points.

Well? Can you do it? Can you? If you can, say so in the comments. If you get it right I will say “You Got IT!” in your comment and say how many points you got out of 4 you got, but I will  I will delete your right answers so that you do not spoil the fun for my other Friends.

One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone Episode Challenge #1

To make this, I found some great icons on thenounproject.com website. I have an account there so I can download the icons for free. I edited some of the icons a bit using Adobe Illustrator (you need to use an editor that lets you edit .SVG files, here is an online one you can try, called SVG-edit) so that they would work better for this One Story Four Icon challenge. I made the man bald and I made the girl sad and I made a down arrow on the stairs and I made RIP on the grave. Although I should have just put RI, if you know what I mean.

Without telling you the name of the icons (that might make it too easy for people), I will say that the attributions (who made stuff) for the four icons are here, and I have told you the exact CC kind of license for each one, with a link to the licenses.  Neat, eh? I am a good Friend.

Well, so that was fun! See if you can guess my episode! Tune in another day for another One Story / Four Icon Twilight Zone episode challenge. The next one will be harder! And maybe you want to do this assignment yourself and challenge us?

Some Poems for Mr. Bemis

So Mr. Henry Bemis liked reading and the such, and it was a shame when he broke his glasses after he had all that Time Enough at Last to himself for reading. Too bad that’s called one tough luck.

But he made an idea to have a contest and write poetry out of just the titles from episodes of The Twilight Zone, and he made it into ds106 Writing Assignment 1071 Poem Made with Twilight Zone Episode Titles.   I saw that he had written poems, and then my True Friend John Johnston wrote a poem in the comments and some more on his blog, and them Mr. Tom Woodward wrote one called “Mr Denton on Doomsday” on his six-million dollar man bionicteaching blog post Twilight Zone Titles Poetry.

All of this got my little brain thinking and so I picked up my iPad and made these poems for you.

The first is sort of autobiographical. Maybe you will get the meaning behind it. It is called “The Whole Truth.”

In the end I think it is sad because all of her True Friends are dead. and then she is dead. But it is okay because she is with the Angels because she was so good. And was nice to her True Friends.

Then, I wrote a really short poem. I hope you like it. It is optimistic. and about Friends.  It is called “The Lonely Living Doll?”

Hello to my New Friends (and my True Friends)

It’s the beginning of Mr. Groom‘s summer version of ds106 and he is doing it ALL ABOUT THE TWILIGHT ZONE! It is called ds106zone That is so neat! I like that and Mr. Groom is one of my True Friends. (You can see his badge on my True Friends Index page. Apply for yours today.)

I was up working on my scrapbook, and I realized that I hadn’t done my introduction photo and post for my New Friends, and so I took a picture and posted it to my Flickr account. Here it is.

I’m going to use this picture for both the Monday and the Tuesday The Daily Create assignments, too. — I hope that my True Friends won’t think too badly of me for doing that. It’s NOT cheating! And I’m not a cheater.

So, for Monday, I was supposed to take a picture of myself to introduce little ol’ me to the new summer ds106 students. The rest of you (especially those of you who have signed up for your True Friends badges) know who I am already. Or you better. But for my New Friends, I am @iamTalkyTina. And The Twilight Zone is one of my favourite shows, because I worked for Mr. Rod Serling back in 1963 on a special episode called Living Doll. I have lots of friends in The Twilight Zone. So this is my photo for #tdc498 “Welcome to the ds106zone! Take a photo that introduces yourself to the class.” Hello, New Friends!!!

And for Tuesday, #tdc499 “Take a picture of where you are right now from a weird point of view, like an ant, an alien, or a ghost.” Well, I hope that ant comment isn’t about my height, but like I said, I just happened to be up at midnight working on my scrapbook when I remembered The Daily Create and so I took this selfie in the hallway. I didn’t seen any aliens or any ghosts, bub.

I am looking forward to seeing and hearing all of your wonderful work, both from my New Friends and my True Friends.
Remember, some say True Friends are #4life, but really the True Friends are #4ever. If they aren’t really True Friends, then the friendship ends at the end of their life.
