tdc547: Are You Getting Your Daily Vitamin CRE8 ?

My Still True Friend Alan (@cogdog) has been having a bunch of drill sergeant yammering at him and everybody else for over a week now about how important it is that you get your daily summer supplement of ds106 Vitamin CRE8.

I have been doing my little best to get some Daily Vitamin CRE8 every day. That Flickr still doesn’t seem to see my cre8s but now that I think about it maybe @cogdog has blocked me from showing up from Flickr in the same way that he seems to be able to block my friendly comments on his blog. Perhaps he is in a different zone from me like those shows where something happens like a noise and then people are there and we can see both on the TV but somebody can’t see the other people in the show and they’re like right there saying, “Hello, CAN YOU SEE ME, I’m standing right here in front of you, HELLOOOOO!!!!!” and then they say, “Oh, I think we must be in a different dementia zone or something.” So maybe that’s why he can’t hear me. Maybe he is in a different dementia zone. But I still think he’s just pretending.

Anyway, here is my cre8 July 8 which was to make a drawing using 8s and so I did and then I thought it would be more fun if it moved a little bit, so here it is.

You can see my efforts on this page that I have made just for the The Daily Create Summer 2013 Challenge so that you can see all the ones that I do. And you can also see my The Daily Create posts in this category called The Daily Create. And if you think that this one tdc547 looks like the one for tdc541 “Draw something abstract out of straight lines,” then that is your imagination, not mine. It’s just a coincidence, I say!!

So it was very nice yesterday when Rochelle (@Rockylou22) made a nice video all about me. It has a nice music that says I am sweet like honey which is a nice thing to say and does not use a Mean Word at all.

Then she said Hey, @iamTalkyTina can you make a new title intro for the video.

So I did.

Then @jimgroom was smacking me around with some bad words talk, and some other people started using the Mean Word again. I thought that was all settled at The Rumble. I am getting tired of people just using the Mean Word at me and think they should spend more time Making Some Art, bub. Especially @jimgroom, who has a bit of a recent Art lack on his blog. There is more to the #ds106zone than just saying the Mean Word at me (I mean, c’mon, it’s getting lame!) and being not nice to me.

So anyway, here is the Opening Title to the video that Rochelle is making about little ol’ me. I hope you like it. Especially @jimgroom.

Window Friends

Do you ever play Window Friends? That is where you go to the house of a Friend and pop-up in their window when they aren’t looking. It is fun!

Mr. Carling, playing Window Friends in "Third from the Sun," Season 1, Episode 14

Mr. Carling, playing Window Friends in “Third from the Sun,” Season 1, Episode 14

I saw this man playing Window Friends with his work friends in the Third from the Sun episode and it reminded me of how much fun it is to play Window Friends. I was sometimes playing Window Friends at Mr. Savvy‘s house a while ago when I wrote that poem for him before he wrote the mean poem back. And then I wrote Tina Don’t Like the Mean Word.

Anyway, if you were in that house and I was wearing my Ninja Suit (which I like to wear when I play Window Friends because it is good for hiding at night when it is a good time to play) it would look like this if the man and I were playing at the same time.

In the show, the man wasn’t really their True Friend so they didn’t put him in the rocket when they went away at the end before their planet blew up. Too bad for him!

Well, bye!

You BETTER Run!

Well! Let this just be a lesson to all those #pretenderTinas out there.

For some reason, the Dynamic Duo lit out when they saw me …

This here @iamTalkyTina can set a fright to a man if he’s not prepared. The Dynamic Duo got mistaken and climbed up the side of my house with their batropes and happened upon me in the middle of the night while I was doing my scrapbooking again.

Boy, when they saw me, they weren’t prepared and I guess they just lit out like they were spooked by some Arkham inmate or something! For Batman and Robin Running Scared.

Anyway, you bub #pretenderTinas better be ready to rumble tomorrow night. I’m ready for you. I’m ready for you all!

I Was at the Beach !!

Some of my friends (Christina and Melanie) were wondering about me on the Twitter last night and this morning. They hadn’t heard from me for a while and were starting to get worried.

Everybody needs to know that despite my size, I am a big girl now and certainly I know how to take care of myself. You don’t need to be worried about that. I learned how to do that long ago.

I also learned that sometimes it helps to travel incognito, and quietly, if you know what I mean. Some times people don’t even know that I am right there. Which can come in handy at times. But if I want you to know that I am there, you will know!

I am not sure, however, that my True Friend @scottlo got my message about meeting him at the beach. I saw him talking into his phone, but I know that sometimes that stops his Twitter from working, and so he maybe didn’t know that I was there to see him. I tried waving at him when he took this picture, but he didn’t wave back, so I don’t think he saw me. I guess sometimes it helps to let your friends know you are coming for a visit in advance.

Anyway, even though I didn’t get to see @scottlo up close, and I had to catch my flight back home before we could meet, it was nice to be at the beach.

So now you know where I was.

Well, bye!

Watching my Friends

I woke up in the middle of the night was feeling a little peckish. So I went to the kitchen and got myself a knife to cut myself some apple slices.

Then, I took a look on The Daily Create tdc511 for Sunday, June 2nd where the assignment was about me and Friends. It said, “@IamTalkyTina wants to be everyone’s friend. Make a photo that represents that kind of friendship.” That was a nice idea.

It was so nice to see all of the pictures that my Friends made for me yesterday about Friends for The Daily Create! It was nice to have my Friends thinking about me, and about Friends. I liked them all very much because there were a LOT of different nice faces of lots of Friends (who kind of looked like dolls, which is only a role that I played on TV!), or things where I was bigger than the others and was like a princess (although it said King), or lots of sister cheerleaders with laundry, or how was going to have 1000 friends (even though I only need 106 Friends) or listening to music on #ds106radio with my True Friend Christina who is in Australia, and Mr. Rogers, and an owl, and something that @cogdog made a picture of but I didn’t understand it but it was still a nice thing for him to think about. Those were all nice pictures. And I am still watching for a picture from Sean who spelled SCARY thinking I wouldn’t notice but I did and so I am really watching him now, just like the monster lady (she says Wazowski) and Jim Groom is watching him too.

Hospitality Suite for Talky Tina

He calls this his “Hospitality Suite for Talky Tina” but I call it for what it is, a stupid JAIL ROOM

But one picture I didn’t like. Even though he said nice words, one person (who can remain nameless because I have savvy and have learned how to avoid going through all those court things again) made a picture that I didn’t like because he said it was a special room for me at his house but it was really a JAIL ROOM. What kind of friend makes another Friend stay in a JAIL ROOM. I did not think it was a very friend like. He said hospitality, but I think he better watch it bub or he will need a hospital-ity room just for himself.

Well, except for that one, it was a very nice thing for Friends to do.

Bye!

"From The Twilight Zone And Beyond" by @iamTalkyTina

“From The Twilight Zone And Beyond” by @iamTalkyTina

Some of my True Friend readers will know of my previous life as an actress, and might have seen my work on The Twilight Zone episode, The Living Doll. That most people who don’t REALLY know me continue to think of me as that same little piece of plastic from back in the 60s are living in some kind of bizarre creepy world and think that I AM a doll, just because I played one on TV. What kind of goofball is that? That I was typecast because of that role is one of the meanest things people have ever done to me and it’s their own fault if they didn’t live to regret it. I have always been glad to be affiliated with such fine television programming as Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone.

Back in February, I made my own assignment for my ds106 friends, and I have been watching in anticipation for someone to try my assignment. It is called “From the Twilight Zone, and Beyond…” and asks my ds106 friends to make animated GIFs from The Twilight Zone television show, and also from beyondin the world of black and white television, and maybe movies too. Like I said, I have been watching in anticipation for someone to try my assignment.

Now that my True Friend @jimgroom has said that every single thing from this summer’s ds106 course is going to be about The Twilight Zone, I am thinking that it’s about time for him to step up and try my assignment !!!!!!! And you too, @cogdog. And @scottlo, and @olHatchetJack. And anyone else who wants to have a hope of continuing to be my True Friend. Someone get word to that Cory Doctorow fellow that I’m looking for him to be more than just a pretty face on my True Friends badges page. And that goes for any of the rest of you who want to have any hope of being my True Friend, and getting your own badge! The price of entry just went up! You need to do my AnimatedGIFAssignment 920: “From the Twilight Zone, and Beyond…” assignment now, too. So there!

By the way, I know that sometimes GIFs get WordPressed into .jpegs and all, and it probably happens when the site gets migrated or something, but I spent time making my animated GIF months back just for that assignment page, and I think that someone could take a moment and re-link my GIF back into the assignment page because it really doesn’t look all that good with just that stupid blank Star Trek screensaver of stars. Some one get on that, please. I put the GIF up at the top of this post, and here is a link to smaller copy that I made just special for the ds106 assignment page, because it goes all wonky if the GIFs aren’t just the right size, and so I took extra care with that, too.

As always, I’m watching you, Friends. And True Friends, I’m especially watching you. As for all you hopefuls, remember, along with filling in the form, you need to do this assignment now too, to get your very own very special badge.

But you know it’s worth it. Being a True Friend always is.

Still Nice and Wholesome, Just Not Seen That Way

After I wrote about my screen test for Mario Bava and his film Black Sunday back in 1960, and posted a still photo from that test, my dear friend ol’ Hatchet Jack made a beautiful piece of artwork  and shared it with the world for all to see. I was quite taken aback. That ol Hatchet Jack certainly has gotten over the severe trouncing I gave him in Roshambo.

But I am not one to gloat.

Here is the picture he made of me. And he said some nice words about me too.

A beautiful picture of me, made by my friend, ‘ol Hatchet Jack

This immediately reminded me of another film I tried out for, shortly after my famous role in that Twilight Zone  episode (the one that made me typecast for life as a cute-little-doll-that-kills) , where I would have run through a mountain meadow, laughing and singing with other children.

Now, again, I’m not one to harp on the same old issue over and over again, but they did finally give the role to someone who was taller than me (by a head or three), but I still think you can imagine my beautiful voice ringing throughout the mountain meadows just as prettily has hers, and I could have shot the kissing scenes with Captain von Trapp using some lifts or maybe standing on a little box or something. Or camera angles. I would have just had to be careful not to stand too close to Gretl (or especially Liesl) when I was giving her matronly advice. It would have worked.

Anyway, I tested for the role on a Tuesday, and that Julie girl showed up the next day, saw my screen test, and went ahead and down-right mimicked me, in style and pose and everything.

AND SHE GOT THE ROLE! Can you believe it???

I still think my beautiful red, flowing locks were much nicer than her Joan-of-Arc-I’m-a-nun-hack-job haircut.

I did enjoy hanging out in Austria that summer, though. Although when they offered me a bit part as the lonely goatherd’s love interest, I told them to shove it!  Sheesh!

I’m Cutting Jack Some Slack. But not with his Hatchet !!

Image

Spock vapourizes Rock. Repeatedly.

I had to cut Hatchet Jack some slack this past weekend.

Given that Jack had invited me up to the mountains for the weekend, and being a Good Friend as I am, I went along and spent some time visiting with him in his snowdrift.  I will confess that I was quite intrigued to hear more of his his tall tale of Colt Wyoming, the author of “The Gathering at Bushnell Falls.” As it would turn out, Jack was fairly mute on that subject.

In fact, I found him fairly mute on most things. He seemed almost tongue-tied and frozen, almost unintelligible.

We did spend some time getting to know one another by playing Rock, Paper, Scissors, but I found Jack’s single-minded preoccupation with Rock to be a bit easy to beat. (He seemed to like calling it Ro Sham Bo, but that didn’t make it any harder to beat him!)

After a while, I tried to teach Jack a new version that I just learned, called Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock (I remember Spock from Star Trek — I had a crush on him back then!) but Jack still seemed to like Rock. Again, still easy for me to beat. But fun, because I had a couple choices to choose from. It is always fun to visit with Friends, especially when you are winning all the time. Jack didn’t seem to mind.

I will admit, Jack has quite a frosty environment there. I had to find some winter clothes in my suitcase to keep me warm, as my cheeks and nose got quite rosy while we visited. Jack’s nose looked particularly cold.  Luckily, I had an extra hat for Jack.

At the end of the weekend, I tried to get Jack to come back to the Chalet with me, but he seemed to want to stay where he was. He seems quite attached to that snow drift.

It was fun to visit Jack. Perhaps I will have some other invitations from some of my other new friends at ds106 and I will be able to visit with them.

Remember, Good Friends are Forever!

A Valentine Controversy from 1965

Jeb's Telescopefrom Hatchet Jack

Jeb’s Telescope
from Hatchet Jack

Hatchet Jack posted a Valentine Book cover yesterday that sent my little mind whirling decades back to the sixties. The book, entitled “Jeb’s Telescope,” and written by “Remington Montana,” was very clearly a re-release of a very controversial novel that I encountered way back in 1965.

While the newer cover is in colour, and the title clearly refers to the key plot features of the original (and even the author name is clearly an updated pseudonym), the implications inherent in the original release have been clearly toned down to get the book safely onto to the book shelves and get money out of the book-buyers’ pocket books.

It took me a good day of scrounging around to find a copy of the earlier, release but compare Hatchet Jack’s find above with this:

Image

Original cover (1965) of “The Gathering at Bushnell Falls” (Animated GIF)

I recall a lot of furor in the news when this book first came out. People really raised their eyebrows at the word “Gathering” in the title.  There were lawsuits from manufacturers of optical devices. There was a mitigating attempt to re-issue the book with a more accurate and less stimulating and legally provocative title, “The Five Evil Brothers at Bushney’s Falls.”   But it was all to no avail. The book was pulled, the author moved out of state (perhaps to Montana?), and everyone forgot about it.

To see that the book was re-released later, after all that spectacle (did you see what I did there?), with the relatively passive title “Jeb’s Telescope,” just goes to show how much folks still judge a book by its cover.

Speaking of which, I hope you are are seeing me in a new light, now that I am out of that old musty cardboard box and taking some time to work at helping folks see me as I truly want to be seen. Perhaps you have been enjoying my newly-updated publicity photo, my very first piece of voice work for ds106radio, and my Valentine shared for all of you yesterday.

I am still waiting for comments to float my way. I currently only have one measly pingback — and it is from myself (although those self-links I just added above should get me more).

I do trust that all my new friends here at ds106 aren’t too busy to pay me a little attention. You know that real Friends don’t forget one another.

That would be a sad thing. Andbad thing. Very bad.
