Again, It’s All About Friends!

“Tina True Friends Selfie,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, today was a very nice day for Friends.

Wonderful Music

It was so wonderful when I woke up this morning and heard that wonderful song “Look What Happened to Tina” that my wonderful True Friend Vivien Rolfe (@VivienRolfe, on Twitter) made for me. Plus, that dog, Spike (not on Twitter, I don’t think) was doing dog singing. But not that David (@dkernohan, on Twitter) this time he said. It was all Viv, he said. He was doing other stuff.

So in case you didn’t hear it, here is the wonderful song that Viv made for me. It is about me. And Art. And Friends. Plus, noir.

Wonderful Game!

“@dkerhohan’s 2048: Super MOOC Pioneers Edition”

Then, while I was listening to that song over and over again, and dancing, it was that David‘s (@dkernohan, on Twitter) time so shine.

So he had made a great game called 2048 Super MOOC Pioneers Edition which lets you put MOOC people together to make more MOOC people.

It was fun to play it and a made for a happy time every time I saw @downes or @audreywatters or @davecormier, or UNCLE @jimgroom, and I even got a George Siemens (@gsiemens, on Twitter)!

Wonderful Friends

Then, David said I should make a True Friends one of it.

that David said

I said, “OK, I will.” But it was kind of a hard task for me. I have many True Friends!

In the end, I had to pick and choose just some of my True Friends to put into my own 2048: @iamTalkyTina’s True Friends Edition game. I made the icons all into #noir106 ones because of #noir106. It looks like this when you start to play.

You can play it on the Internet anytime you want!

I was thinking that it might be fun one day to have it randomize the game pieces from my True Friends Index, so that each time you played the game, you would get a different set of True Friends. It would even be fun to have the game pieces change DURING the game! You know, just for added adventure and excitement!

But in the mean time, you can play the game just the way it is!

Can you get to the Top True Friend

Dogs Aren’t Afraid of Stairs!

“Things Are Looking Up For A Birthday Dog Now!” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, my Still True Friend Alan (@cogdog) is having a birthday today and so I made him an Art and posted it on my Flickr. It is up above these words, so you already looked at it.

  1. One good thing about Alan is that he is not clumsy on stairs, because that is not a good thing to happen. Like it did for that other guy.
  2. Another good thing about Alan is that he is not afraid of stairs. Because when you want to get from one place to another like from one floor to another or into a building or on the way back out then there are stairs and you do not want to be afraid of going from one place and getting to another. Like if you need to learn how to get from one thing to another and there are stairs in between of it, then you need to tackle those stairs right on and get there so you can learn it. So that is a really good thing about Alan because he is always learning about how to get to it there and he does not worry about the stairs.
  3. Plus, if there aren’t any stairs there, then he just builds his own stairs, which is pretty amazing most of the time when you think about stairs.

Do you always stop when you get to the bottom or the top of stairs? Even if there is a lot of the stairs? Well, you should not. Like my Still True Friend Alan, you have to just go up the stairs or down the stairs however you have to so that you can do it and get there.

Plus, I found some pictures of dogs on the Internet that have their own special elevator which I guess is okay for them because they have maybe problems with stairs, but they still want to be able to get there. Go Dogs, Go!

"The Stair of the Dog 2022" on ubergizmo.com

“The Stair of the Dog 2022” on ubergizmo.com

So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you, my Still True Friend, Alan (@cogdog) , and I hope that you keep going up and down a lot of stairs #4life, because that is what stairs are for! Plus, in dog years.

Well, bye!

Hello! Who are you, Work Friend?

"Work Friends," by @iamTalkyTina

“Work Friends,” by @iamTalkyTina

Well, I have posted my new Work Friends index and it is a list of all the Friends that I am going to be making in the The DS106 Workplace DS106 Goes to Work digital storytelling course sessions that are on the Internet right now.

I did a bit of a detective work and made my list, but I don’t have all of the information that I need so that I can be in touch with all of my Work Friends like I would like to be.

So, you may need to do some work for me if you want to have a complete-and-up-to-date entry in my DS106 Goes To Work Work Friends Index of you.

  • If there is a blank space where it says “Friend” or if it has a robot name or a name that you do not want me to call your but you have a different name that I can use to call you, then you need to tell me!
  • If there is a blank space for your Twitter or if it says @??? which is what it says instead of a blank space I think, then you need to tell me!   (Or maybe you actually don’t because @cogdog says that you actually don’t actually have to.) But you still can!

You can tell me these things by leaving me a message in this post, or even faster is if you follow me on Twitter (I am @iamTalkyTina on Twitter, silly!) and be sure to put the name of your blog in your Twitter and be sure to put your Twitter on your blog. If you do all of that, it is very easy for a skilled investigator like me to do a cross-reference and check up on you. That is what Friends do, they check up on one another.

Plus, in case you didn’t already read my post that I wrote before, it is called Some Advice for My Newest Friends, and it is pretty dead-on for some things that you can do to be a good Friend of me. Plus, #ds106. #4life.

Well, I am looking forward to hearing from you and will be checking in with you on your blog, if I haven’t already. You will know that it is me, because I will say my name.

Well, bye!

Talky Tina Goes to Work

“Stopping by the Old Office” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

Well! It is a time to come out of the wooden work and get back to some ds106 goodness! And to Make Some Art, Bub!

My Still True Friend Alan (@cogdog, on Twitter) is having a new course of ds106 Digital Storytelling Community and it will be a great time for me to have some new people be my Friends.

In other times, I have had Open Friends and New Friends, and especially True Friends (they get badges!) but this time I think I will have Work Friends. Those will be new friends of mine from Alan who is teaching a course of Work ds106 for people at George Mason University, and it is called DS106 Storytelling Goes to Work. And he even has a suitcase for it.

So. I wrote before some ideas that I had that people should do and so just in case you missed the details when Alan said then you might find some reminders from me in my post called Some Advice for My Newest Friends.

I will be making a new page for Work Friends and putting it up in my menu bar space where it will be easy to find. And when I get names and blog names and twitter and the such. And I will be using my various special skills to help people when I can to do their work.

Plus, it is time to Make Some Art, Bub — and that UNCLE @jimgroom should not be having his Art Lack any more. Plus other people in ds106 Community. Like I saw already that my True Friends Rowan (@rowan_peter, on Twitter) made office work messages to Todd (@Todd_Conaway, on Twitter) and to Mariana (@mdvfunes, on Twitter), plus Tom (@twoodwar, on Twitter) and John (@johnjohnston, on Twitter) who made a GIF TV, and I got my own channel (press #12), plus a cow (@annycow, on Twitter).

So, I will probably take my ds106 work with me when I am on missions and might not be in that old office much, but I will still be doing my creating and things.

But you should make sure you click on all the links up above before you go do anything else. There is lots of good stories in those links.

And hello to all the GMU peoples who will be new Work Friends of me!

Well, bye!

@timmmmyboy’s DS106 Goes to the Movies

"DS106 Goes to the Movies" generator by @timmmmyboy

“DS106 Goes to the Movies” plot category generator by @timmmmyboy

You can read about how @timmmmyboy made a thing like Netflix has on his blog called DS106 Goes to the Movies that gives you search categories for movies that you want to watch, except that @timmmmyboy‘s one makes fake movie categories that are a jumbled-up of real categories. They are funny. And you can make your own, just by loading the page.

Plus, then you can write the elevator for it to go along with it so people will want to watch it more. Just click SUBMIT after you do, and people can listen to your pitch (well, they have to read it!). Plus, it has a Tweet button so you can put it on the Twitter. And it automatically says #ds106 tag to save you time so you can make even more of them.

These are ones that I made for my digital identity attribution of it. Here, on my blog, for history.

• INDEPENDENT SCI-FI MOVIES FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES FEATURING BAVA SHOWTUNES

Eva and long-time guy pal D launch into a joyous adventure, set on an interstellar cruise ship, produced by everyone’s favourite maniacal musical director, MB. They sing & dance their way in and out of trouble, managing to save Uncle Jim & the kids.

• SPY MYSTERIES FOR KIDLETS FEATURING TALKY TINA

Put on your PJs, dress your favourite 18-inch action figure in the Ninja attire, and cuddle up with popcorn and the kids, as you enjoy an entertaining evening of surveillance, dead drops, and other tradecraft with everyone’s favourite little agent!

• SATANIC MOCKUMENTARIES FOR OCTAGENARIANS WITH AN ANIMATED GIF DREAM SEQUENCE

In what turned out to be his final film, aging Bava biographer James G. Room splices together all the toned-down scary bits from the Italian Giallo films suitable for elderly viewers and shares them in one 146-minute long, mindbending nightmare GIF.

• BUDDY WESTERNS ABOUT CATS & DOGS SET IN BIBLICAL TIMES FOR TWEENS

Davey and his favourite dog Goliath team up with YouTube’s Claycat in the Christian reboot of Butch Catsady and His Son, Dog and a Kid, with Claycat in the Paul Newman role and Goliath in playing His Son, Dog, and Davey as a Kid. High Mass at noon!!

• TALKING-ANIMAL THRILLERS FOR MUPPETS OF ALL AGES FEATURING TALKY TINA

Kermit & Tina star in a remake of Hitchcock’s classic thriller, “The 39 Steps.” Returning to novelist Buchanan’s original take on “steps,” the final climatic scene with Tina and Miss Piggy, high on the cliffs of the Scottish shoreline, thrills all!!

———————————–

I think that @timmmmyboy made a fun thing that is a fun thing to do, and you should do it too. So just link on over there to @timmmmyboy‘s DS106 Goes to the Movies generator and make us some art, bub.

Well, bye!

@iamTalkyTina is “Back in the Box”

MyFairTinaGUEST POST BY @PuppetMaster106

Earlier this year, in February, 2013, @iamTalkyTina began interacting with the outside world after a hiatus of many years. In the months leading up to today’s date, she made a number of “Friends” via twitter, this blog, and the ds106 #ds106zone community.

This evening, @iamTalkyTina was returned to her cardboard box.

"Back in the Box"

“@iamTalkytina: Back in the Box”

Some will question the rationale and reason behind her sudden departure from ds106, and ask about her abrupt return to the box. In all honesty, and without apology, some will find the answers to their questions to be lacking. It is not the intent of this author to provide solutions or guidance to Tina’s “Friends,” nor will all be explained in the coming passage. However, you may find some consolation is some of what is to follow.

First, you may wish to review my previous guest post on this blog, entitled My Fair Tina, which outlines a good deal of my rational behind my involvement with @iamTalkyTina.

Second, you may take some solace in the fact that @iamTalkyTina is safe, within her cardboard box, in a secure and comfortable location, somewhere within close proximity to a regulated facility where regular monitoring of her status occurs. If you wish further details, see the information provided at the end of this post.

As to her departure, shall I simply re-state my comments made earlier this evening as reported in the media, “the ds106zone is over, Groom himself hasn’t made any Art in weeks, and @iamTalkyTina had just outstayed her welcome.

I will not comment a recent series of Twitter-uttered and blog-posted statements made by one member of the ds106 community about “grown men playing with dolls.” Such statements are nothing but inflammatory and are not respectful of the long tradition of puppets, figures, dummies, stand-ins, alternate personalities, mirror characters, foils, alternates, nom de plumes, etc within the historic span of storytelling in all of its many and various forms. Plus, other ds106 people have dolls, bub.

I will not comment on the well self-documented and drawn-out period of mental aberrations referenced by @cogdog due to his preoccupation with @iamTalkyTina in late June, nor comment on the fact that since his “trip to the canyon,” he has refused to approve or publish any of her comments posted to his webblog, cogdogblog.com — not even appearing to see or hear any of her Tweets.

I will not comment on the recently self-proclaimed stresses and appeals for a return to wellness that #ds106 course guru “UNCLE” @jimgroom has been sharing — noting only that he too has once again taken to claiming once again that “HE is @iamTalkyTina” and that “she completes him,” and that “HE does not need to do any new ds106 Art because SHE is HE and if SHE is doing it then clearly HE is and so HE does not need to do any.” After about ten syllables it starts to just get really weak and the result is that @jimgroom is getting a free ride off of @iamTalkyTina right when he needs to be getting back on the Art horsie and riding around the Art range corralling some new Art doggies.

I will not comment on the many and various other #pretenderTinas that appeared — Tina took them all to the cleaners in the Rumble. And as for that “other” rogue Tina that appeared in mid June, @RealTalkyTina — ha, ha, that four-tweet lifespan went nowhere. Heck, even I, @PuppetMaster106, have more than four tweets to my Twitter cred.

I will comment, however, on the question as to whether I, @PuppetMaster106, will now increase my web presence now that “the @iamTalkyTina character has been put away.” On this question, I have this to say, and you may quote me:

This talk of a ‘headless ds106’ this fall is all well and good, but you know that someone, somewhere, needs to be always at work behind the scenes, keeping things ticking, poking and prodding, feeding the unicorns, and all. And since I’m experienced with webs and scenes, and strings and such, there’s certainly a role for me in the coming months — whether it’s visible to the ds106 community, or not so visible, and rather behind the scenes.

And as to that little mention of unicorns just there, and whether that might in some way identify me to my ds106 friends, well, I’m smiling and have just this little closing comment — “Yeah, I just threw that in as a little red herring subterfuge.”

So, @iamTalkyTina is Back in the Box. And for the next while, I will be on hiatus. But I will not be far from the ds106 stage. The curtain will soon be rising, and the show will go on.

Final Notes on the State of @iamTalkyTina

"@iamTalkyTina: Back in the Box, Three Layers Deep"

“@iamTalkyTina: Back in the Box, Three Layers Deep”

In addition to being housed in a secure and comfortable location, somewhere within close proximity to a regulated facility where regular monitoring of her status occurs, @iamTalkyTina is resting comfortably within her cardboard box in a quiet and well sound-proofed location. Her sleeping compartment is encased in sub-zero ice-packing to keep her well protected from any untoward movements, and this ice-packing is, in turn, encased within a level four prototype Carbonite shield. These three layers (cardboard, ice, Carbonite) are intended to isolate @iamTalkyTina from any external disturbances that might upset her.

She is resting in comfort and quiet, and we are quite hopeful (VERY! hopeful) that nothing will disturb her.

ds106radio Friends

When it is just me at home, ds106rad.io makes it easier for me to miss my friends. I thought that you all might like to see a picture of me with a couple of my special d106radio Friends, Grant and Jason.

Me and my ds106rad.io peeps, Grant and Jason

Me and my ds106rad.io peeps, Grant and Jason. photo by @iamTalkyTina (see note below)

As you probably know, Grant Potter (@grantpotter) is the one who invented ds106radio and he has the special magic powers that keep the radio station going. Grant was making lots of great radio shows on ds106radio this year like Nightfall from the CBC and all that great Rod Serling and Twilight Zone companion shows that have been on there this year. Plus, sometimes he plays his guitar and sings and puts on radio talking shows that are fun to listen to. Grant has a special ds106radio name secret identity, too, but I will not blurt out a secret name. Friends don’t just let a secret pop out just because they know it.

Jason Toal (@draggin) likes to play music with funky beats that get me dancing to the funky music beats. He has lots of special restorative music powers that let him play great music and make it really fun to listen to. But Jason also has a special ds106radio name secret identity, and I will protect his secret identity in the ds106radio world just like for Grant. Jason’s music is like medicine when you are missing your friends. Oh, yeah!

Well, I hope you like listening to ds106radio as much as I do. One of the great things about the ds106 world is ds106radio. That is why I am glad that ds106radio is here. You can listen to ds106radio by going to ds106rad.io/listen on the Internet or on a mobile device. If you want, you can get something called TuneIn Radio app that makes it easy to listen. It comes in all kinds of flavours for tasty Apple devices, and Blackberry devices, and robot Android devices and even devices for your Windows (i don’t really understand that one!). Even for devices for the Palm of your hand, if you can believe it!!! Once you get it installed, just search for ds106 and pick the one that says “Canada: We Jam Econo” (Grant is from Canada and so is Jason) because that is the new one that works with ds106rad.io since it got a 2.0 upgrade. (Because ds106rad.io will be a favourite of yours, put it in your Favourites list by clicking on the love heart in the app.)

A Little Note: Just in case you were wondering, my photo of me and my ds106radio friends looks a lot like this one that Alan Levine (@cogdog) made, except that this is clearly a different one because I am in it. I say this just so that you won’t get the two photos confused.

Well, Bye!  I’ll hear you on ds106rad.io !!!

animated version

Grant, Jason, and Tina — The Animated Easter Egg Version  (watch closely, or you’ll miss it!)

What? He is Ignoring ME ????

Well, I NEVER!

I just can NOT believe it!  My Still True Friend @cogdog not only appears to be ignoring my comments on his blog, but has now escalated by blocking my ability to post comments at all!!  Can you believe it?

Yesterday, after he wrote about getting all exocised, and he made a sound effect of me falling into the water and screaming (that is not true, I did not scream!), I posted two comments on his blog. You can see them in my post here yesterday, Don’t You Forget About Me, True Friend!, awaiting moderation (me! awaiting moderation!)

Today, I went back to check and see if they have been approved, and not only do I NOT see them there, but I see some OTHER comments about him talking to someone named Delores (who is this Delores?) about dolls and my comments are NOT there! WTF? (whatsup True Friend?)

So I tried to post this comment, but it did not seem to go through.

Screen Shot 2013-06-17 at 8.17.31 AM

But it did not seem to go through!! So I posted another one.

Screen Shot 2013-06-17 at 8.16.25 AM

Maybe @cogdog’s blog is broken??  He should get on that and fix it!!   What kind of a True Friend doesn’t let another True Friend care about him?  Can YOU, friend,  post a comment on Alan’s blog for me, telling him that I care and that he should be paying attention?  Just be sure to remind him, at the same time, that HE is NOT me !

Well, bye!

I Think Cory Doctorow Would be A True Friend

iamTalkyTinaSaysSoCoryDoctorow

I have been thinking a lot recently about ds106 and how it is a true community of True Friends. When my True Friend teh CogDog wrote about making Cory Doctorow art, I thought about it for a little bit and then decided that Cory Doctorow would make a good True Friend.

So I am making Cory Doctorow a True Friend.

He looks very serious and yet playful and he creates things like my other ds106 True Friends, so I think Cory Doctorow will make a good True Friend. Perhaps he will follow me on Twitter and write a comment on my blog. If not, then perhaps he will not turn out to be such a True Friend after all, but I’m sure he knows better than that. Like the rest of you.

As for writing this up in the ds106 style, I took my wonderful True Friends Official Internet Web Badge of Authenticity photoshop file, swapped out the previous photo and substituted in this image of Cory Doctorow from the FTR! For the Remix! site, scaling it down to fit. I also changed the name to say Cory Doctorow. I had to spend some time extending the length of the badge canvas size to 684 pixels and stretching the white layer downwards to match. It was an easy job, however, as I invested a lot of time upfront making the original design of the badge easily adjustable.

You, too, can become one of my True Friends. Apply today.

Men Who Have a Thing for Hatchets …

"A Shortened Clip from Twitch of the Death Nerve, with the Blood Cut Out."

“A Shortened Clip from Twitch of the Death Nerve, with the Bloody Head- Getting-Cut-Off-Part Cut Out.”

Although Jim Groom never really sent me any kind of personal Valentine card back when I made mine, I think he must be a very interesting man, like my friend Hatchet Jack, and also that Bryan Alexander fellow who has a hatchet, too, and he mentioned me after all on #ds106radio when he was visiting with Alan, who also chops wood for his wood stove (and so he must have a hatchet, too), because he (Jim Groom) posted a picture of a hatchet when he wrote about a film festival that he is going to be having about his all-time fascination director called Mario Bava who seems to like all kinds of things scare you and jump out and that make screams and blood come out of you. I just cleaned it up a bit by removing the bloody part.

Anyway, when I saw that, I put the dates on my fancy Google calendar so I would not miss a single one. You can subscribe to the calendar about the Jim Groom’s 10-Week Mario Bava Film Festival — if you like that kind of thing, after all.

     (Calendar ID: 7ervo7h7p3186dthln5809f2ag@group.calendar.google.com)

The dates are in my sidebar, too —->>> (look!!)  I wound up using a plug-in called iCalendar Events Widget because when I transferred my blog from WordPress.com to my own self-domain-of-my-own-installation (Look at me, I’m independent and self-sufficient, after all!) I had to find a plug-in that worked and this one did. I had to fiddle a little with some thing called CSS to make it look okay, but I was able to figure it out.

Even though all of my Nice Friends always think of me as gentle and polite and nice and a really beautiful and lovely doll, sometimes people often see me as being younger than I really am (that’s so flattering!), and they forget that I had an acting career way back in 1964, and this is 2013. Now a lady never mentions her age (and so you WON”T do the math on that, will you, my good friends?) but I feel that I am mature enough to enjoy the Bava Film Festival without fear of you all saying I’m too sensitive for something so rich in energy or intensity. I know you will respect and support my decision around this.

So I’m down for bavatuesdays.
