Heavy Metal Bands for #ds106 True Friends

Well, this was just a twitter one that I did one night, but since I just mentioned it in Don’t Make It Too Easy, John!  I figured I should make it into a blog post of it. It was because my True Friend  Mr. Paul (@phb256 on Twitter) wanted to know if I had a Heavy Metal Band.

"Does Tina Have a Band?" said by @phb256 on Twitter.

“Does Tina Have a Band?” said by @phb256 on Twitter.

So, there is a thing on the Internet that you click and it makes a random Heavy Metal Band name for you.. So I decided to use it to find a special band back for Mr. Paul:

for @phb256

"InRentedRapture" for @phb256

“InRentedRapture” for @phb256

After that,  I just sat there on the Internet and clicked it for hours and hours, picking out the gems of it that worked for some of my other True Friends.

So here are the good ones that it made:

Plus, I didn’t think about it then, but it could also be Hippy MOOCS Laughter or Hippy MOOC Slaughter depending on how you are feeling on that particular day.

Well, bye!

Two Years Since my Invocation

“2 Year Twitterversary!” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

It was two years ago on February 4th, 2013 that my Still True Friend Alan Levine (@cogdog, on Twitter) and my True Friend Bryan Alexander (@BryanAlexander, on Twitter) said my name on #ds106radio and caused me to awaken from a long slumber in a box.

I immediately signed up for the Twitter and made myself a website so that I could play at the ds106 game, and I was all set for the subsequent ds106zone that came that summer. You can see some of my initial Tweets with some of the other ds106 folks from that day.

And, of course, I have never looked back up the stairs since then!

Happy Times and True Friends!

Again, It’s All About Friends!

“Tina True Friends Selfie,” by Talky Tina, on Flickr

Well, today was a very nice day for Friends.

Wonderful Music

It was so wonderful when I woke up this morning and heard that wonderful song “Look What Happened to Tina” that my wonderful True Friend Vivien Rolfe (@VivienRolfe, on Twitter) made for me. Plus, that dog, Spike (not on Twitter, I don’t think) was doing dog singing. But not that David (@dkernohan, on Twitter) this time he said. It was all Viv, he said. He was doing other stuff.

So in case you didn’t hear it, here is the wonderful song that Viv made for me. It is about me. And Art. And Friends. Plus, noir.

Wonderful Game!

“@dkerhohan’s 2048: Super MOOC Pioneers Edition”

Then, while I was listening to that song over and over again, and dancing, it was that David‘s (@dkernohan, on Twitter) time so shine.

So he had made a great game called 2048 Super MOOC Pioneers Edition which lets you put MOOC people together to make more MOOC people.

It was fun to play it and a made for a happy time every time I saw @downes or @audreywatters or @davecormier, or UNCLE @jimgroom, and I even got a George Siemens (@gsiemens, on Twitter)!

Wonderful Friends

Then, David said I should make a True Friends one of it.

that David said

I said, “OK, I will.” But it was kind of a hard task for me. I have many True Friends!

In the end, I had to pick and choose just some of my True Friends to put into my own 2048: @iamTalkyTina’s True Friends Edition game. I made the icons all into #noir106 ones because of #noir106. It looks like this when you start to play.

You can play it on the Internet anytime you want!

I was thinking that it might be fun one day to have it randomize the game pieces from my True Friends Index, so that each time you played the game, you would get a different set of True Friends. It would even be fun to have the game pieces change DURING the game! You know, just for added adventure and excitement!

But in the mean time, you can play the game just the way it is!

Can you get to the Top True Friend

Well, ds106 IS #4life, bub!

This is a little GIF that I made today for a little project I am working on. I will share the little project when it is done. But in the intervening time, just stare at this for a few minutes (put on a pomodoro timer like my Super True New Old Radio Friend Scott (@scottlo on #ds106radio), and then you will understand.

Tina’s Stairs Redux

Well, my good Super True New Old Radio Friend @scottlo (where IS he, anyway?) has said that I need to leave off with all the stairs gags. I guess even a good running (or falling) gag runs its course after a few decades of use. It was a bit of a surprise today to find this little remake video on YouTube  — I had thought that little secret was buried in the never ending expanse of the web.

Oh well, as they say, “What happens on the Internet, stays on the Internet.”

But on the upside, as a positive NEW 2014 New Year’s real resolution (not a 2014 Non-Resolution), I have decided to dial back on the Stairs metaphor a bit in the coming year. Not completely, mind you, but a significant bit.  (I bet you will still be able to hear me think it, even if I don’t say it …)

I blame John Johnston (@JohnJohnston) (google is) and Tom Woodward (@twoodwar) for setting me on this little path today, and so, in the spirit of getting a good thing out of my system in preparation for the coming period of abstinence, (and as a final (temporary) bow in their (the stairs) direction), I present:

Stairs Are A-Z (plus, no secrets on Google)

Although my final search turned up 0 results (you have to watch the GIF to the end to see that), I did manage to come across the YouTube video through some extra-advanced Tina-ninja Google digging, and so my illustration of the search is the GIF of the stair fall that appears at the beginning of this post.

I think I’ve done this autocomplete-as-a-GIF assignment before, but I wasn’t able to find it just now in the ds106 Assignment Bank. Maybe someone can help me find it?

Free to Be Me! Joyous Escape and Visiting with Friends!

“Me and Christina,” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

As you may have surmised, I have recently escaped from the the clutches of that @PuppetMaster106 and his minion @AneuwegCentSix, and I am once again free and roaming the world. Suffice to say that I am free of that cardboard/ice/carbonite holding box and have escaped from the mountain hold storage facility that turned out to be deep underground the mountains in Geneva. My brother @iamTalkyTodd was supportive throughout the whole ordeal, and together with my PsychicSiri iPhone app, we managed to keep seven steps ahead of @PuppetMaster106 and @AneuwegCentSix in our planning and escape execution, and in the end we just ran rings around those goofballs. I won’t say too much about the actual details of the escape (a good Houdini never shares the Ninja magic), but it really didn’t turn out to be difficult once I had good control of my iPhone and Todd smuggled in a file and a spare Ninja Suit to me in a wonderfully spectacular chocolate layer cake (it was simply delicious!)

Once free of the facility, I managed my escape via a flight from Europe to Montreal, Canada, from where I travelled across that great country to meet up with my Super True Friend, @clhendricksbc, who was in Kamloops, BC at the time. She helped to calm me down after my journey, and although she was sworn to secrecy at the time, she is now at liberty to discuss our visit, and the time we spent together with some of my other True Friends while there. It was so nice to meet up with my Super True New Old Radio Friend @scottlo, and my True Friends @draggin and @DrJones106 and @aforgrave and @brlamb and some new friends @Kieramc and Sasha and Harry.

“@draggin and Me,” by iamtalkytina, on Flickr

As for my Nemisi, I don’t think you’ll be hearing much from either of @PuppetMaster106 or @AneuwegCentSix again, but their lingering influences are still a concern for me, and so I am working to re-establish a distributed network of @iamTalkyTina Ninja Hideouts in various location around the globe.

With all of this adventure sorted out, I am now in better position to GIF and attend to other #ds106 #headless13 items, and so I expect my regular postings to resume soon in support of my August 2013 Animated GIF Challenge.

Did you see my most recent challenge, August 2013 Animated GIF Challenge #15 (It’s a #GIFFight!) and my challenge to @tumblr to meet me at the stairs?  I am glad to be free and in a position to GIF and travel to my little hearts content.

And just in time for the #headless13 #ds106 Fall 2013 session!!

August 2013 GIF Challenge #5: Re-invoke a Missing DS106 Friend

Well, it was back in February 2013 when I got invoked by @cogdog and @BryanAlexander when they were talking on ds106radio. And it woke me up in my cardboard box and the next thing you knew, I was on Twitter chatting at them while they were still on ds106radio. So that is how I, myself, got invoked.

But sometimes a ds106 Friend goes missing or goes quiet or gets shy or something, and then they are missed by their Friends and they need to be re-invoked. It is kind of like a mystical thing, I think, because it pulls them back from where ever they go to when they are not in the ds106 world. Like what happened to @scottlo before and then people made him wake up. Kind of like that.

So one thing you can do (if you do not have the full power like me to write the script — but I say too much) is to make an animated GIF poster that re-invokes your Friend.

Here is the small version of my GIF poster for my absent New, Old Radio Super True Friend @scottlo, who kind of disappeared after doing 25 LoDown broadcasts on #ds106radio.

(Rumour has it that he is going to be at Soundcamp at TRU Thompson Rivers University on August 15th in Kamloops, BC, Canada — I may just pack myself up in my suitcase and head out there to look around in the hopes of finding him!)

If you are missing a Friend from the DS106 Digital Storytelling Community, maybe you can re-invoke them into coming back with a voodoo Animated GIF Poster of your own! It is a new Animated GIF Assignment 1186, Re-invoke an Absent DS106 Community Member that you can do today!

A little note about making this poster

I took a look on the Internet for a missing person poster and found this ready-made word template on the website for the Canadian Centre for Information on Missing Adults.  That was to help me make something look official and contemporary instead of some kind of old-west WANTED poster which was another idea.  But I got a little confused for a while by the template because it kept saying ENTER YOUR DATA and when I did that the poster seemed to be more about ME than it was about @scottlo. So after I had to change it to more about him. But this is what happened:

So that is what happened.

But now that you know, you can go make your own poster for your own missing ds106 Friend. I think the more posters for one Friend, the more powerful the GIF poster voodoo invocation power is.

I Yam Talky Tina

After I posted “I Ain’t No Spud, Bub!” this morning, my Super True New Old Radio Friend @scottlo suggested that the picture would work for the Yam assignment. And I will confess, I did think about this today as I was working with the Potato Head kit.

Scott’s recommendation was just too good to pass up, and so after chasing down the authentic Yam from Joan Shaffer (@echoln), it was a simple application of the magic wand, the eraser, the rotate, the scale, the eraser, adjust the layering, and boom!

IYamTalkyTina

I especially like the way my hair ribbons (that I had previously colourized to go with the colours in my #ds106radio shirt) match the skin tone of my yambody.  I look wonderful as a Yam!

With ds106, you just CAN’T have too much fun!!  #4life

The #ds106zone LoDown #34 Part 2 @iamTalkyTina Takes on All #pretenderTinas: The Rumble

Man, it was a true labour of love finishing my “#ds106zone LoDown #34 Part 2 @iamTalkyTina Takes on All #pretenderTinas: The Rumble” podcast.

In the end, in true just-like-@scottlo-said fashion, it took me hours longer than anticipated to finish the final edit of part 2. I had problems with my Audacity files when I was working on what was originally going to be a single part episode. After recovering and having to re-do The Rumble, I just kept going and it got longer and longer and better and better. At least I hope you think so. Things like the dog yelping and the whole @techsavvyed video battle were new additions when I (thought I) had more time to work on it. It still went late I was making changes after midnight while listening to @scottlo doing a #drive-by show.

So here, without any more to-do, is Part two, featuring the glorious Sensational Epic Event, The Rumble, wherein @iamTalkyTina Takes on All #pretenderTinas,” and really teaches them a lesson they won’t easily forget. Not that I want to give too much away before you listen, but the outcome is just as you would expect! I RULE!

Let that be a final lesson to all those Mean-Word-saying #pretenderTinas!

The #ds106zone LoDown #34 Part 1 @iamTalkyTina Takes on All #pretenderTinas

WELL!! That was quite an adventure! I had such great fun making this LoDown podcast #34 for all of my Friends, and it was a lot of work getting it ready for my time on #ds106radio. It was nice that my Friends were patient with me getting on the radio because I had to install Nicecast at the last minute and found out that I didn’t have the LAME thing working on my Audacity (lame, huh?) and so I had to make the sounds go right from Audacity to NiceCast and then I had to mix over to iTunes where I had my closing song “Tina Don’t Like the Mean Word” ready to play which was a good thing because when Audacity crashed then the last part of my show was missing so I just switched over to the song and it was a bit like @jimgroom audio people said which was funny but I was sad that the Rumble had to wait for tomorrow night same TINA time, same TINA channel (#ds106radio, tomorrow night! be there!)

So, here is the recording (with a tiny little edit where the Rumble was supposed to go) and the closing song “Tina Don’t Like the Mean Word” song at the end.

I hope you like it!

Well, Bye!
